1 Electrical Jack problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

Yesterday, October 31, my husband took our 2004 chevy Impala in to get the keys repaired due to the ignition switch recall. The dealer, jack schmidt of wood river, refused to repair the six keys purchased from Chevrolet with the car [we ordered 4 additional keys from Chevrolet with the car]. It was a flat refusal to repair more than two keys, not a "there is a fee for additional keys" the dealer said they were instructed to do this by Chevrolet. As these keys were purchased from chevy [as opposed to being copies made elsewhere] they should be covered. The recalls, NHTSA recall #14v400, gm recall #n140350 notice specifies "all ignition keys" I have written chevy to complain and also notified senators kirk and durbin of chevy's actions. I though you should be notified that chevy is not actually fixing the problem as ordered.

2 Electrical Jack problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

The key is stuck in the ignition, this was at 10:15pm 9/25/14. The car was able to be turned off, I turned off the radio, lights, air and anything else I thought would kill the battery. I removed the key fob and locked my vehicle. I woke up this morning at 5am thinking the car wouldn't start but thankfully it did. I drove to work and now I am worried the battery will be dead when I return to it to go home. I called the dealership service department at jack winegardiner Chevrolet and they said the cause could be a dead battery, not so, I can start and drive the car just fine. When I asked what could be the cause, could it possibly be the recall 14299, he said no. I told him that I have done my research and this is an ongoing issue with these cars and he said unfortunately their is no recall for that MA'am and that I will be responsible for the repairs. Really, I had another issue with the card just a few days ago which I will report in another complaint. But in short the car had reduced power and traction was supposedly affected. Turned the car of and went in to work, went back to go home and it has been fine ever since. This car is becoming unreliable. I used to love my car, now, I don't think I will buy another chevy, ever!.

4 Electrical Jack problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/20/2012

I had a blow out on a front passenger tire. Went to raise car on flat level surface. I used the car jack for the first time since buying the car two years ago. The jack failed to stay under the frame rail ridge. Its was half way up and the car bent the frame of the jack and the threaded rod. Luckily no one was near the car it just roll forward and crushed the jack. I was unable to straighten and fix the jack. Bad metal or frame was not qa correctly. I had a police officer use the same jack on his squad car different year Impala and it worked fine. I need to find a way to report the jack failure and get a replacement jack from the chevorlet company. Do not want to go to a dealer or service center. The act of this failing is a safety concern to many Impala owners and I would like the jack mail to me or replaced as soon as possible.

5 Electrical Jack problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

After parking a 2008 Impala on a flat concrete surface I took the lug nuts off the passenger side front tire . I then placed the jack (which had never been used before ever ) under the proper fitting points as shown in the manual behind the front wheel. And jacked the car up until the tire could be removed from the car. After the tire was completely off I was visually inspecting the the break pads but not touching it when the jack began to break off from the base. As I moved away to protect myself the jack completely broke away from the base and the car landed on the ground, broken jack and rotor . I then called aaa who took a 3 ton jack and inserted it under the front of the car and jacked it up enough to put the tire back on . Never in my life have I seen this happen before and I have changed the tires on many cars and trucks. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow who will be inspecting my car and hopefully replacing the jack.

6 Electrical Jack problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

Scissor jack provided by manufacturer failed. While attempting to change a flat, the jack failed while wheel was removed causing car to drop to the ground. Jack use instructions reviewed an followed. Surface adequately flat and solid. Jack base ended up bent as did the scissor mechanism. Jack failure has potential for both injury and vehicle damage.
