2016 police Impala with 63,829 caught fire and is no longer usable. The officer parked and locked the car up to do a foot patrol around building 33 on dla richmond. When he returned to the car, keyfob would not open the door so he opened it manually. When he opened the door, the smoke from the fire billowed out, but the fire was already out. The dla fire department indicated that the fire started at the driver seat electric motor. Maintenance records indicate the seat motor was previously serviced/replaced by heritage cma Chevrolet on August 24, 2018.

When starting the vehicle 5e service stabilitrack light will turn on; the gear will be on manual instead of int he park position - and I am unable to switch the gear. I am not able to put it in drive. I have to turn it off and on a couple of times before it will start on park. The car has also switched to the manual position when I'm driving and making a left turn. This happens more frequently after it's rained the service engine light comes on, but after a few days it turns off. The problem of going from park to manual or from being in drive to manual has happened both while the car is in motion or when it is stationary- it's also happened on a busy highway or in town at low speed.

Adaptive cruise control (acc) issues scenario 1 first day I was traveling at approximately 70 mph. As I would in any of my other 100 + cars I've owned, I held the cruise control set button expecting the speed to gradually decrease. The Impala much to my surprise, with traffic behind me, went from 70 mph to approximately 20 mph within 7 secs. The traffic behind me was swerving to avoid crashing into me. It clearly states on page 182 of the owner's manual reducing speed while acc is at a set speed. press and hold setuntil the desired lower speed is reached, then release it. When you hold the set button the speed drops so rapidly there is no possible way you could reduce the speed to only (for example) to 58 mph. Scenario 2 I was following a vehicle with the acc set. Vehicle ahead of me signaled to make a right turn and was merging right to make the turn. As I proceeded to change lanes and go around the vehicle, my Impala slammed on the brakes causing the vehicle behind me to have to swerve to avoid a crash. Scenario 3 referring to the scenerio 2. When the vehicle turning right cleared the camera on my Impala the Impala accelerated aggressively as though I was attempting to pass someone. It was very unexpected and to the point where I felt I could lose control of the vehicle. Scenario 4 when rounding a curve if the acc camera senses a vehicle moving in a parking lot near the road it again brakes harshly for no good reason. Again causing the vehicles behind me to have to react. The Impala will again accelerate aggressively once past the moving car in the parking lot. Scenario 5 in two lane traffic with the acc set, when you're rounding a corner if the camera of the acc gets the car in the other lane in its vision the Impala will again slam on the brakes. When the car in the other lane is out of the camera range the Impala accelerates rapidly.

2009 chevy Impala lt malfunctions blend door actuator not turning causing the temperature control system to not work properly: heater blows cold air when in park *there is a loud knocking sound coming from the dashboard. When I start my car, unlock my car, open a car door (driver, passenger, front, back) and while my car is parked with the ignition off. the front driver side door lock mechanism not working: *I have to manually lock and unlockthe drivers side door with the key and sometimes my kids have to unlock door from inside the car. left passenger power window won't roll down. The last two items could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to become inoperative. These could cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire increasing the risk of personal injury. Mechanic said that these malfunctions are a common problem in chevy Impalas so it seems that these are obviously faulty parts. I am extremely aggravated that this is a known and consistent issue with this car yet have not been recalled. Not good! there are several actuators, they all need to be replaced. Gm should do a recall on this model to fix these items. Could be significant if there's an emergency and I can't unlock the door and can't roll left passenger window down. The last two conditions could increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Only driver door unlocks with a key. Three other doors (driver and two rear doors) do not unlock electrically half of the time. It makes no difference if using controls on door or remote. This of course refers to being stationary. I believe this is a concern because it requires hopping over the front seats to unlock the rear doors, (which have the manual button at the rear of the door) making it even more difficult to reach. This is absolutely unsafe when there are child seats involved, or when a person must be quickly removed for any reason such as health issue, accident or danger. Climbing over the seat may not be an option if sick or injured people are in the front, but not necessarily removable. What if child locks prevent unlocking from the inside, and remote or door controls are the only way to unlock the rear doors? I have discovered that this is a prevalent and expensive to correct problem. My car (even though it is 9 years old) has less than 35,000 miles on it, and is in very fine shape otherwise, but has three doors with this problem. This is a faulty product! the complaints about this in the on-line community tell me this problem deserves being fixed by the manufacturer. It has happened to me at least 30 times, including today, and I have only had the car for a little over a year.
Purchased my Impala Nov. 2013, brand new, ordered from dealer. One month later as I stopped at a stop sign and proceeded to pull out onto the next street, the car started going very slowly, hardly moving and then just stopped. The engine was running but the car wouldn't move. I shift into manual 1st gear and the car proceeded to move. I reported it to my dealer and they said to let them know if it happened again. It's now March 2016 and it has happened a total of 6 times to me. . . This car is not safe. Dealer said they have not received any complaints similar to this from any other 2014 and new Impala owners. I have found many complaints in the website with the same experience I had. My radio/gps display also goes blank intermittently, though not a safety issue, it is very upsetting when it happens while driving is a strange place and the gps quits. This report is of the most recent issue.
Came to get in and unlock car when I noticed only the front passenger door unlocks. Had to climb through the car (while 5 months pregnant) to unlock both backseat doors for my niece and infant nephew to get them in the car. The 3 locks, besides passenger front, only work maybe once a week randomly. I have my first child on the way in November, and now I have to worry if I will have to set my baby on the ground during winter to climb through the car to unlock the back door manually.

This car had to be towed on above date due to inability to shift out of "park". The mechanic removed the center consol and repaired a broken ground wire to the inter-shift lock. I had to pay out of pocket $383 for a broken wire no bigger than a strand of hair. There is no guarantee that this won't happen again or possibly next time it will be the key ignition wire that will break which is found in the same selenoid. I feel that this is a flaw in gm manufacturing of this type of vehicle. I have reviewed hundreds of other gm complaints of this same nature. I definately agree that this problem needs to be reviewed by gm and a recall is warranted. I would also like to include that there is definately a problem with this vehicle's power locks. My rear power locks would not unlock when the lock button was depressed. I have had this problem repaired twice within the past 2 years and now the rear locks will not open again unless I reach over the seat and manually unlock them myself.
Rear passenger doors will not unlock, trapping passengers after parking vehicle nether of the rear passenger doors could be opened. Both rear passenger doors remain locked and could not be unlocked using ether the lock controls located on the drivers side door control or with the key fob. My 90+ year old parent was in rear passenger compartment. Due to severe dementia they became panicky and agitated when they were unable to get out of the vehicle. They did not have the ability to open the door using the passenger lock nor could they follow instructions to do so. This would be the same situation as having a small child trapped n the rear. The rear door manual locking mechanism are located to far back to be reached from the drivers compartment. I was only able to free him by entering the truck and pushing one of the rear seats flat to access the passenger area. Had this been a crash or vehicle fire any passenger in rear compartment would have perished. A review of Impala owner complaints on several web sites indicates there is a common issue with the rear door locks on these Impalas but gm has not offered to fix what is an obvious safety hazard.
Both rear passenger door locks stop working prior to 60,000 miles. They would work randomly and eventually stopped working all together. After researching the issue there are several hundred complaints on websites and it appears to be that they used a lubricant that becomes too solidified. If I were in an accident I wouldn't be able to unlock the rear doors using the key fob or the power unlock. It has to be done manually and they are very difficult to reach from the front seats.
There is an issue with the door lock actuators and the recirculation door actuator. The door looks are now 98% manual. Every once-in-awhile they will start working again. This has led to a few instances of my vehicle being locked automatically with the keys inside. This can be extremely hazardous when it comes to pets and children. There is a loud tapping behind the dash due to the recirculation door actuator. This can be rather distracting and worrisome when it starts happening for the first time while you are driving. This is a common and known issue for gm/ chevy vehicles during this time frame.
3 of the 4 door locks won't operate with a key fob or the door panel and there's no key access anywhere outside except the drivers side which is the only lock that currently works. . . With children or adults in the back seat or the passenger side this creates a serious hazard in the event of an accident or the need to enter the car urgently if being pursued by an abductor. Small children wouldn't be able to manually unlock doors to exit the vehicle in case of an emergency and the driver would have to climb over the back seat to access the lock manually or lose precious time rolling windows down and getting out of the car to open the door locks from outside the car. . . . This vehicle is low mileage and these locks are defective. Many have been blogging about these defective door locks and gm needs to recall these and replace their defective door lock actuators stat at no cost to the consumer!.
Mine seems to have the same problems as most people. Traction control. Service airbag, reduced engine power lights come on. Car dies while driving once the lights come on. Doors don't unlock unless it's done manually. Messages flash on my readout over and over again. Tells me to check tire pressure on each tire even though the pressure is fine. Detects passenger in passenger seat when there is nothing in the passenger seat. Ridiculous! I am not ever buying another one!!.
The back doors and the front passenger door will only lock and unlock manually.
Ive owned 2 Impalas and my sister in law owns one also. All 3 have had problems with door lock actuators needing replacing. Doors need to be opened manually from inside or out. It cost approx. $500. 00 to replace if not under warranty.
2003 Chevrolet Impala. Contact states that the defogger failed. A mechanic determined that the breaker for the defogger did not exist as shown in the owners manual and diagram on the breaker cover.
