I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction regarding a recurring issue with my vehicle’s catalytic converter pipe. At 37,000 miles, the left-hand (front bank) catalytic converter pipe near the cylinder head mounting flange weld failed and was replaced under warranty by gm. Now, at just 88,000 miles, the same pipe has cracked again—at the identical location—and is not being covered by gm, forcing us to pay for repairs out of pocket. This is not simply a case of wear and tear. The failure not only resulted in significant performance issues, but also caused the housing of the fan to melt due to excessive heat exposure, posing a serious safety hazard. This repeated failure clearly indicates a design or manufacturing defect, and I’m appalled that gm has not acknowledged this as a broader issue—despite evidence suggesting this is a known and frequent problem with this vehicle model. In my view, the failure of the same part in the same location twice, within a relatively low mileage span, reflects an unacceptable lack of quality control. It is deeply disappointing that gm has not issued a recall or offered to cover this repair, which is demonstrably caused by the same flaw as before. This situation feels less like responsible customer support and more like an attempt to profit from known issues, leaving loyal customers to shoulder the financial burden. I am requesting immediate reassessment of this case, full coverage for this second repair, and a formal acknowledgment of this defect. I also encourage gm to investigate this issue further and consider issuing a recall to prevent others from experiencing similar damage and expenses.

I started my vehicle in the morning to let it warm up. I come back out to get myself and my son in the vehicle to go to work and take him to school. My dash upon entry had a check engine light on, and the message it displayed was "engine power reduced. " I put my car into reverse, having no choice but to drive it and the traction control went out. My father in law pulled the code and it said something about the accelerator sensor. This is a known issue and recall in other models and I wanted to report it is also happening in my model.

I have trouble codes that occasionally come up even after vehicle has been serviced. The vehicle used to drive fine. Now it started miss firing. I was told the problem was coming from the engine compartment/sensors. An obdii diagnosis detects a problem with b camshaft position timing over advanced or system performance bank 2 (p0024). I fear that without the fix, the miss firing can cause an accident. The engine light is illuminated when this happens.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The traction control, abs, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic however, a diagnostic test could not be performed due the excessive rust underneath the vehicle. The mechanic was unable to hoist the vehicle on the lift because safety and liability issues. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

I own a 2011 chevy Impala 4 door that has a very serious engine issue. I was on my way home and suddenly the service stability trac, and check engine light came on, then the message center displayed reduced engine power and low oil pressure then the engine shut off. I tried to restart the vehicle and it would not restart. I got it towed to a parking lot where it sat over night then it would restart but only for a few minutes. Once I got a scanner hooked up it had a p0642 code lost 5 volt reference circuit 1 and a cam sensor code I worked on this vehicle for two days and still have not found the issue. This vehicle needs a recall since this is a recurring issue with a few different model years of this vehicle and its always the same issue word for word, check engine light comes on, service stability trac, reduced engine power and low oil pressure lights come on the same p0642 lost 5 volt reference circuit 1. This is a very dangerous situation when going down the road and you lose engine power, steering and braking power. Gm needs to correct this issue too many people have had this same issue.
This problem has happened for many many years. Made appointments @ fuccillo chevy dealer, by then it’s gone off & they don’t know! well, just occurred again when getting new tires @dunn pulling in. 2011 Impala stabilitrak, engine power loss, then check engine light! thank goodness the mechanic printed me the codes & what they mean!! so- p2138 throttle/pedal pod sensor voltage correlation dtc p0523 engine oil pressure sensor/switch high input same complaint of loss of power as I’ve now seen others write about!! voltage referring to throttle ‘s ability to open/close properly. An electrical malfunction in manufacturing! recall!!! obviously I actually have another Impala- 2007 that the rear defrost wire’s actually burnt @ control junction, been replaced now. Could’ve caused a fire !! high beam lights come on intermittently when using the turn signals!! stand by your product !!!! I have 2 Impala’s, 2007, 2011. My mother has Impala, 2015. My sister has an Impala, 2017. Impala family I guess- kinda funny, all are black Impalas!!! I’ve seen numerous complaints of this same issue! defect! r u waiting 4 an accident or a death? go !!!! has happened numerous times b4 this report, chevy dealer has previously stated can’t anything because the code disappears on its own. What’s with that? resets itself?? it does!! sure have had it happen, 20 x’s?? I make an appointment & by that time- gone! seriously!!! finally caught it 2 code it !!.
Fourth time I had submitted this text so this one will be vague. I've had to repair my stuts and shocks and brakes to my vehicle due to ongoing issues with tires while divingand hitting small speesbumps and potholes. I did replace low performance tires and still was an issue with my struts and shocks when I drive causing me to hit a bump or a small hole and diverts me to the next lane of ongoing traffic also I had to my battery replaced twice. To find out that it was only due to corrosion and the battery cables slipping was frustrating cause I did replace the battery and key fob battery already. Car wouldn't start and when it did it took forever hours to restart and engine still seems to get bogged down in ongoing traffic. Which was the prior issue no power no matter how hard I press the gas. I took to autozone and they did a reading which came back that everything was okay including the battery which was obviously not okay. It was leaking fluid and I have already replaced year and half ago due to same issue. They cables seem to slip over time on its own. What to do? thank you for your time to look into this issue. Kindest regards.
I started for the first time in early June of having reduced engine power. At this time I get several warrning lights on dashboard. I get engine power is reduced, traction control and engine light. The car goes into limp mode. I replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor after the first event. Since this time I had it happen 4 more times. This situation can be dangerous if a car is behind me and I slow up real quick due to going into limp mode. I try to pull over where I can when this happens. Once I pull over for 10 minutes the car will resume like normal driving with just the engine light on. The next day the engine light usually leaves. It is hard to know when this will occur but it can be a dangerous situation to be in.

While driving at 70 mph my car just shut off. The radio and lights stayed on. The oil and battery light came on before it just shut down. Steering locked up. When safely to side, and turned key off it starts right back up, but now traction system is off. Has gas and nothing is broken.

The stabiltrac light comes on,sometimes I lose power. Sometimes the back up camera doesn’t work. Sometimes the parking brake light comes on the dash. Then ieverything will suddenly go away and everything is fine, only to have the same problems. This has been happening for months. I took it to the dealer multiple times and they are unable to fix it.
I put my car in reverse and the car turned off and have turn back on. When I try to start it, I don’t hear any fix or crank. Before this happened, my car was slow to change gear or it would will change so fast that my car will lose control and I did not feel safe at all.
The car at lights act like it does not want to go which can cause a wreck.

My 2013 Impala ltz service traction control, service stabilitrack, engine power reduced problem lights came on the dash. Almost had an accident I want to know why the 2013 model of Impala has not had any recalls as the 2010 models with same issues. . . . . My vehicle has the same major issue and need to be addressed & recalled. . . . . . The 2013 Chevrolet Impala ltz need to be recalled to fix this issue for the safety of my family and the families on the road and highways. . . . . . . . I can't express more the need of recall for my vehicle!!!!! I attached documents on the pervious 2010 model recall that had the same issues. . . . I was sold a used car w/ undisclosed accidents. Had many issues within first few weeks. Had transmission cooler lines replaced after they burst. Radiator, compressor, condenser, and much more. Then the airbag light came on. Dealership said connectors were bad. Fixed it. Light came on again. Took it in to dealership. They had it for over two weeks. The gm for all the dealerships told me the vehicle was not unsafe and told me lies. But the service girl confessed she no longer had access to my vehicle or my file and her boss and the gm had taken over working on it. She then told me they pulled Ford model air bags from my chevy Impala. Now the light has come on again. I do not feel safe or rust the dealership to fix it properly.

2017 chevy Impala 3. 6l engine exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold / turbo charger. Resulting in exhaust fumes leaking driver/passenger area could cause fire and or damage to engine. Checking on the customer review and complaints page on the internet I have a lot of other complaints even to the point one persons wife developed lung cancer possible related to inhaling the exhaust according to her doctor. Who knows but I had a hard time getting my car to pass nc inspection because of the lake, please advise. As I am hard of hearing and didn't know I had this problem until the local nc inspection station pointed it out all I knew was I could smell it or something. Ps the email is that of my local mechanic, as I don't have one or how to even turn a computer on.

When pulling up to a stoplight the car would often downshift, surge with power, and nearly overpower the brakes. The car started losing oil from its rear main seal. When I finally had the seal replaced the repair shop found that pieces of the thrust bearing were laying in the oil pan. The engine and transmission had to be removed from the vehicle in order to replace the thrust bearing. They showed me a box full of parts, but I did not keep any.
Service stabilitrak warning light goes off and on intermittently when this happens the traction control light comes on when hooked up it shows no codes everything I’ve read on line is that it’s a electrical issue to replace wheel bearings or gas pedal or other list of sensors shouldn’t this be something that you should investigate to let owners know what to fix it seems to be a issue on several different models of chevy autos if forums are correct next step is it will go into limp mode or shut off completely that one would think would be a serious safety issue as you loose power steering as you have to fight to get to shoulder of the highway.
Several different instances I've had my parking brake release as soon as I go to move after being parked for a long period of time. (I never set my parking brake to begin with so I don't understand why it keeps telling me it's released) once it tells me it's been released, it's followed by a rough jersey of the car and then I'm able to move. Ever since I bought the car, there was a small shake. The dealer had to cover the front strut assemblies that were going out at the time of purchase; but since then the shake is unbelievable. I've put tires on, checked all parts of the chassis, and don't see any visible defects that would cause the shake. They have no answers or ideas of how to fix it for me. The faux metal ring around the cupholders on the center console has been cracking since the date of purchase and it finally caught on a cup and broke and has cut myself and my child several times. I had to end up ripping the trim off just to be able to use the cupholders. Lastly, the car seems like it's not gaining enough power sometimes. I keep up on services and general maintenance, and nothing seems to help. It sounds like the exhaust is leaking, and again, there are no visible defects when looking under the car.

Today, 6-12-2022, driving on us highway 80 at 65 mph headed toward phenix city, al from columbus, GA, the the engine shuddered, then the "stabilitrack service light" came on, along with the check engine light, and a message for "reduced engine power. " then, the engine suddenly cut out as I was going uphill between the riverchase exit and the summerville exit. Luckily, I was driving and not my wife. I was able to glide the car back to the right shoulder of the road under zero power, and shut the ignition down. Cars were passing me at 65-75 mph, and I was very fortunate not to have caused an accident. After sitting there for about 5 minutes in 96 degree heat and my wife freaking out in the passenger seat, I restarted the car and eased it to the summerville exit, and slowly drove home, about another 6 miles. We were damn lucky not to have been hit by another car, as this happened on a what is essentially a freeway. After researching this , it seems this is a common problem being reported on this model, the chevy Impala. I'm sure Chevrolet knows about this. . . The company should be forced to recall this car model and fix it before folks start getting killed due to total engine failure. . . Especially at a high speed like I was driving.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle from an independent mechanic, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The mechanic informed her that the vehicle was included in an unknown recall. The independent mechanic took the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. A month after the repair, the check engine warning light reappeared. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
