Upon after starting the car a noise was coming from front of engine. I took a video and saw fire coming from the front left catalytic converter between the flange and the converter. The converter separated itself from the flange. The car, a 2017 has only 50000 miles on it always garaged and no accidents luckily caught the converter problem before it completely blew itself off the flange and caused a fire.

The car can have moments of power loss where the speedometer suddenly, erratically spikes while the tachometer slightly lags. It almost stalled my vehicle while transmission was in drive while stopped. It feels like dragging when the power loss occurs. This has occurred randomly for the past month, mostly during interstate driving with cruise control operating. It has happened the last six times I have driven, but the previous several times it did not occur. It also occurred in a similar random fashion for the prior two weeks. When it does occur it feels like power drain and deceleration that can last a second and this will occur several times during a twenty minute drive at 70mph. Mechanics at two shops seem confused and don't know where to begin except for a transmission fluid flush. That was completed and the problem has persisted. There are no related error codes. To lose power suddenly and unexpectedly could cause an accident especially if a system failure shuts off the vehicle while driving. This vehicle has had an oil consumption/burning problem since I bought it with around 60,000miles. It needed 2 quarts of oil added between the last oil changes. I have spent $1400 in July of this year on gasket replacements and that did not stop the leak. More gasket heads and an oil pan are going to be need to replaced and the estimate is another $1400. This is too much to be spending on possibly related issues in a short time span that may not resolve the problem.

The 2014 chevy Impala is dangerous. When the rocker arm control valve and related parts fail or the camshaft solenoids and sensors fail the car will drive rough and eventually just cut off in the middle of traffic highway or residential. This is what it did on me, putting me in a very dangerous position. The economic loss is still devastating financially as all 2. 5 and 3. 6 engines arent covered by gm special warranty but they should be all covered. My VIN number was not included when it should be.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over and restart the vehicle after waiting approximately 5-10 minutes. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was awaiting diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

According to my obd scanner the components that are failed is the throttle body position sensor circuit a & the throttle body position sensor circuit b. Before this happened the check engine light was on for about a week, when I scanned the vehicle with the obd-ii the code for a large leak in the fuel evap system came up. One day while driving the vehicle I was stopped at a red light and once the light turned green I pressed the gas and the car started to sputter and move very slow also in the driver information center it intermittently showed the warnings service traction control and speed reduced. I had to pull over when safe to do so. Once I got the vehicle home I ran the scan again and it came up with the throttle body position sensor codes. The part is available for inspection. The safety of me and my passenger were in jeopardy we could've definitely been in an accident because it was so sudden when it happened. I have not taken the car to a dealer but an independent mechanic has looked at it. Vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than me and an independent mechanic. This was a very scary experience and I have seen many forums with the same issues from gm cars. Your attention is needed and appreciated.

The car was purchased 06/23/2021. Approx 2 weeks or less later the car had to be taken to the shop where it was purchased at due to the engine going in the car. There have been 3 loaner cars given while car is being fixed however after now 4 months the car is still just sitting at the shop where it was purchased at without the engine being replaced or repaired. There is a loan on this vehicle and it is very unfair that the loan has to continue to be paid for when the car is not in possession of the owner. I do not want the car back at this point because it is now out of warranty and has been sitting for a long time without being fixed. I have called many times and have been getting the run around. Now the owner of the shop or workers will not answer my phone calls. My name is [xxx] my contact information is [xxx]. I am helping my son out because he is and have been getting the runaround since he purchased this vehicle from ecars. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My left hand (front bank) catalytic converter near the cylinder head fell off yesterday at the mounting flange. It landed in/on my fan. I went online to find a replacement part and found gm service bulletin pip5419a & b first issued in 2016. . That bulletin explains a known "defect" with the weld. The catalytic converter pipe cracks at the mounting weld. The TSB was issued for all Impalas from 2014-2016, all vins all transmissions, all 3. 6l rpo lfx engines. It says that gm is working on a solution for this concern. Why isn't there a recall on this defect? the file I've attached is not from my car but from the TSB. It's very similar to what my cars catalytic converter looks like.

The contact mentioned that the key was unable to be removed from the ignition. The vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to an empty parking lot. The dealer was not contacted. My VIN should have been included in this: n182186881-01 - special coverage evaporator core icing, leak revised warranty section I have had the issue for many years due to not receiving the notice. The car leaks, hisses, smokes and does not cool at all. I was told I must only take it to them for 250 diagnostic but they also said it was a havoc reprogramming that cost the 2,500 to fix. I have a estimate from a triple a recommended mechanic that says its the evaporator coil. My miles just hit 80,000 but its been going on for years because I haven't had the money to fix it and make payments. Chevy arbitrator states the miles are low and the dealer I bought it from, conly in brighton michigan, should put my VIN on the recall list. They say they don't know how/will not. The arbitrator didn't give me on digit for her call back extension. I do have proof of the car having no air at 49,000 miles when a mechanic couldn't find the issue because it was to far down in the car. I don't trust taking the car to them after being diagnosed without seeing the car. Bbb auto said I exceeded milage but I wouldn't have if I would have been informed ASAP my VIN should have been in the recall. I have the same make and type of car. Why did they exclude me? I hardly drive the car and was an essential employee . Everything was closed I was in the year allowed and under the miles if I would have got the notice please help.
My vehicle caught on fire after I returned from it getting serviced by pepboys in phenix city alabama. My car was only getting serviced for the a/c and once I returned home, my car caught on fire in our drive port.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that hot air was blowing out the vents. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bellamy strickland Chevrolet Buick GMC (145 industrial blvd, mcdonough, GA 30253, (770) 954-3000) where the vehicle was diagnosed with an evaporator core leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
5th cylinder misfire caused by broken valve. Also not shifting right caused by transmission solenoid.
Wiring harness is defective and friction causes electrical misfires that affect the entire vehicle, from deacceleration while driving to not being able to turn over the engine to start. I've been dealing with this issue for over 4 years and gm nor any safety commission will do anything in terms of a recall. This complaint is the only recourse that I have in order to notify public of the issue. This is extremely concerning as it can cause safety hazard on road.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front-end of the vehicle would lower and the front end was unstable. In addition, the check engine warning light would remain illuminated. The vehicle was also consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The engine fan had failed and the transmission was faulty. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
There is a slight vibration around 20 to 30 mph as gears are shifting and it goes away. . . Does it repeatedly at same position and everything goes back to normal. . . No codes or lights on dash happens mostly in motion on inclines and even ground at same speed grouping.
It was a recall issued in 2014 for stabilitrak for bad grounds on my chevy Impala and I went to chevy about it and paid for the diagnostics to check and they told me it was the transmission that I needed. Also, the paper doesn't tell me I needed a transmission fixed, so I took it to 3 different transmission shops and they said it was the ground that was bad. But I was not paying for it and it was a recall issued in 2014 that is happening and is happening to several others as well. I called the gm and asked if its anything they can do about it since it was unde recall they are saying no. And the I have to go pay for diagnostics again so they can see what it is because it may not be same and I did before and chevy said it was the transmission and the other shops said the transmission is in great shape it was the grounds thats bad and that if the issue was under a recall it should be done again. I take this as safety issue and it puts me and my family in danger and it is my only transportation . So I have my son picking me for work.

- service stabilitrak. A reduced power light usually indicates a fairly serious problem with the throttle system. When this light illuminates the vehicle will often go into a safe mode, which will severely limit the speed of the car and in some cases will render the vehicle un-drivable.
I was driving on the freeway and the reduce engine power came on, my vehicle immediately start slowing down and I couldn't go over 19 mph !! very scary and unsafe and gm has failed to take care the problem!!.
To whom it may concern: I have a 2009 chevy Impala with 100,000 miles on it. The 1st time this issue happened, I was driving slowly, on a side street, in July 2019. Out of the blue, the following warnings appeared: engine power is reduced, service stabilitrak, service traction control. Immediately my car started running horribly (it didn't want to go, was chugging, and almost felt like the transmission was slipping). I parked it. Later I started it and all warnings were gone, but the engine light was on. . The next day I started it and just the engine light was on. 3rd day I started it, engine light still on. Drove it to a shop,. Right before I pulled in, the light turned off! they scanned it anyway & said that nothing came up. The car has driven just fine, no warnings or lights until 11/25/2020. I was driving about 20mph, turned right on a side street and all of a sudden all of the exact messages as before came on. Vehicle immediately started running slow and "chugging"again. I parked it. When I started it again later, all the same messages were still there. It's definitely scary when this happens & since the 1st time it happened, I was nervous to drive it far because I wasn't sure when it may happen again. I went on a Chevrolet forum & read there was a recall for this issue. I was very pleased about that. I put in my VIN & it stated that there are no recalls. So I called gm this morning. The rep said they're aware of this issue, but there is not a recall for it. She then said that it would've covered by special warranty but unfortunately that was unavailable as of April 2019! her advice was to take it to a certified dealership and have it checked and fixed soon for my safety! I asked why there isn't a recall, if it's a known issue and she said I could talk to a customer experience manager at the dealership and maybe they could do something for me. Please help!.

Sometimes when driving an "engine reduced" warning will pop up and when it does so, the car limits the amount of power applied when accelerating. I have to turn it off and sit a few minutes before it goes back to normal.
I just purchased this 2002 chevy Impala which came with the important vehicle safety recall and I would need the problem fixed. Nhtsa 15v-701 im actually now scared to drive it/.
Once driven, car will not re-start. This will happen randomly . No clicking,no dash lights, absolutely nothing; as if no battery in car. Had it diagosed in shop twice now, can not find anything wrong (cannot duplicate no start). I noticed in car complaints . Com that someone in horn lake, ms had smilar issue while driving on 3 different occasions. I believe this is a seriuos safety issue!!!!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that as his brother pulled into the driveway the vehicle suddenly shut off. The brother was able to shift the vehicle into park and restart the vehicle . The dealer jerry's Cadillac 3118 fort worth hwy, hudson oaks, TX 76087 (817) 382-9412 said to bring the vehicle in for a diagnostics test and an appointment was made for later on this week. The manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 113,000. Tf.
While wife was driving at normal speed car went into limp mode many times over last few months causing accelerator pedal sensor codes. We have since changed this pedal sensor 6 times and same issue and codes pop up. We also changed throttle body w sensor and connector pigtail. I think there is corrosion in ecm and all these items have failed. These items should have been recalled as manufacturer defects in my opinion. We are still having problems same codes and im not the only one!.
