Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises Problems of Chevrolet Impala

My car's engine always feels like it's dragging in the front and sounds really really bad like it's about to explode or something it makes a lot of noise and ticking sound as well when I'm driving.

With no warning the engine of my car had a catastrophic failure. Due to defective timing chains and gears. Known to being problematic and breaking around 85,000 miles. Many on line complaints with this engine, but gm will not acknowledge it and do a safety recall. It is a safety issue because when my engine failed there was no warning light to alert us to a problem. The car was running fine and it made a clanging noise along with a thick cloud of blue smoke. . We were lucky to get the car off the side of road before getting rear ended. Timing chains are not a regular maintenance item. They are suppose to last the life of motor. If they are failing at 85,000 miles or less why isn't a scheduled maintenance listed for it. Our car was regularly maintained at 4,000 miles with synthetic oil. I did not use a chevy maintenance mechanic I used a mechanic who has close to 50 years experience. Ji called gm up to explain what happen they said there was no recall and I can't go by on line forums. They wanted me to tow the car to a chevy garage for a diagnostic test. I asked them if they can have a mechanic come to where my car is, because I couldn't afford another tow and it was pretty obvious the engine failed. They refused. I was not expecting to replace a motor at 85,000 miles when most Impalas go 200,000 miles. After on line research there was many complaints about this engine with timing chains and also a class action suit with different models, but same engine. I have no money to replace an engine and I shouldn't have to.

Increasing ticking noise from engine. Started about 6 months ago and noise getting louder. Per bale Chevrolet, it is coming from purge valve and valve is operating as normal. I don't feel this is normal, especially since it wasn't doing it when we purchased it.

Had the car under three weeks and head lights are flickering the dashboard light flickers and the engine is making a ticking sound. The tire pressure light came on after three days of financing the car.

This vehicle has been recalled due to air bags, and in a year no one has been able to get the repairs done to the vehicle. But furthermore the car has several other mechanical issues that I am showing as a trend with Impalas being that my sister and cousin have one also in different years, the car makes a ticking noise when the air or heat is turned on the passenger side delivers opposite temp as the driver so if air is on the passenger will deliver heat and vice versa. If the car goes over a speed bump the engine reduces power and service stabilitrak appears across the lighting as well as the car dropping out of gear if I go over any bump. This is very dangerous especially being that my children and I were in this car and it decided to do this on the interstate at night in 70 mph traffic. After doing research on the vehicle I am showing that I am not the only person with all of these problems listed, and it bothers me that none of these issues have been recalled just as the air bags were even though I think the recall, is just to save face because no one is actually doing the work to get them fixed. At first I thought these things were just mechanical problems with age of car but after research these are issues that are in cars made in this time frame and warrants a recall for the safety of consumers.

Engine makes a ticking noise or knocking noise while accelerating , I'm very concerned with this being that this noise started the next day after I had the car home from the dealership . I'm hoping this isn't a safety concern but it sure is a customer dissatisfaction. The dealer has tried to isolate the noise and could not and said I would have to wait for the manufacturer gm to figure out what is wrong. I'm very depressed about this having spent good money on a new car just to have it make more noise that a 40 year old car , and then being told I have to wait till someone complains enough to see if it can be fixed. I been told that this is a new engine in the Impala and now am wondering if this engine is going to become a problem for thousands of people like myself. I have read some major concerns from people about the 06 Impala and hope this isn't where my car is headed. Any help that I could get would be very appreciated, thank you.

Engine stalls when it reaches normal running temp, it becomes hard to start after. Only makes clicking noise. Even after starter has been replaced.

While driving the vehicle stalled while driving 70 mph, the passenger side headlamp blew, the roof molding was lifting on both sides, the drivers side window leaks air and the window hits hard in the top of the door jam, when going over bumps the vehicle shakes and there is a clunking noise under the vehicle, the dealer replaced the steering shaft and the tie rod ends yet the problem still exist.
