6 Horn Assembly problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

I bought my car with 11k on it. It was a dealer used car that had never been registered for the road. I had a 2009 Cadillac, so this is what I compared this car too then. The passenger wiper blade has "scratched" the windshield where it stops to return back down. This has caused a permanent mark in the windshield, the length of the blade. This blocks your vision at the worst time; when it is raining or snowing. Next up are the safety feature control locations which were very poorly designed. There are 5? different ones. Two are on the left dash area, but obstructed by the steering wheel. Another one is on the steering wheel, next to other controls and I've turned it off by accident. There are others, not easily accessible, but you have to operate the driver info center by several clicks to access them. Not very consistent. The horn is more difficult to operate than any other car in my life! in the past, if you push the little horn icon, it blows. With this car, you must push at the bottom of the wheel; I found this out by testing it over and over. The horn will not work in an emergency situation by most people. Speaking of covered controls by the steering wheel, the start/stop button is obscured unless you turn the wheel or lean sideways. If you just pull into your driveway normal, you can't see it. The emergency 4-way flasher button is next to the start button, and is also obscured by the steering wheel. Electrical, minor but annoying issues include the hvac system and music storage. This the the worst system I have ever seen. In almost any climate (40's down to below zero), I have to turn the temp from 90, down to 66 to stay comfortable. To use auto-start, I have to remember to preset all the controls how I want them set for the next morning! the audio makes up its own song lists. These things should not be on a 2015 car! I could go on even more!.

10 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/19/2014

Found out my horn stopped working while driving. Nearly got in several accidents because I couldn't sound my horn as warning. Found out from shinee la fleur at the dealership that chevy put in a update to cover the horn from water damage. This should have been a recall not an update. The horn shorted out because water got to the electric part of the horn. This problem could have shorted out my entire electrical system but luckily it only shorted out the horn. The dealer wants to charge me $425 for there mistake. I would like this car to be on a recall for possible damage by water because the shield they put on now protects it. Why wasn't this shield sold with the car from the beginning. The tech stated that this problem does exist on all these cars but chevy does nothing about it.

14 Horn Assembly problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

My Impala has a very bad electrical problem. My air bag light has been on and the manual said it can deflate at any given time. My wipers half the time don't want to come on or work. My horn and alarm sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. The car shakes really bad when I drive it, especially the steering wheel. It also burns oil like crazy. I trust my 99' chevy suburban over my brand new 09' Impala. It is the most dangerous car I have ever had and I wish I never would have bought it. It definitely has triple the amount of problems then my 99' suburban had.

17 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/08/2011

During a snow storm, traveling with traffic at a safe speed. I was cut off by another vehicle because my horn failed. I was not able to alert the other driver that it was not safe to merge into my lane. Resulting in my car entering the ditch to avoid a multi-car accident. I have researched 2005 chevy Impala horn failure, and I have found many have burned out. My mechanic states he believes it is a known issue with Chevrolet due to the placement of the horn itself, the horn is in an unprotected area, it can and will "burn" out due to rain water, snow, etc. This is a safety issue. As important as any other. The cost to replace the horn is over $200. 00 with labor because of the additional labor to get to the horn.

18 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

Car: 2005 Chevrolet Impala, v6 3100 engine the horn in the car began having intermittent problems with functionality. It is unknown how this began except that the sound of the horn became somewhat strange to start. Over time the horn failed completely. The result of this failure is a rather big safety issue given the need of the horn to warn other drives and pedestrians of your presence when they are unaware. We nearly got into three accidents (two in parking lots, one on road) as a result of our inability to honk at drivers to let them know we were there. I am a handyman/mechanic type and replaced the defective horn and added a custom water shield to prevent water from corroding the horn. There is a TSB about this issue. I believe a recall is necessary. Service bulletin number : 4043 NHTSA item number : 10020089.

19 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

While driving horn sound weak and stopped working I had to take out fuse for the horn because it was just sounding off. Another important issue while driving at night low beam headlights will turn off while driving in the dark. This can cause a serious wreck especially if you are on the highway and could kill someone. Very dangerous situation. Same thing with the horn, someone can pull out in front of you and you cannot blow your horn.

20 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/19/2009

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Impala LS v6 3800 series. The volume of the horn was fluctuating after about 3 years & now it could hardly be heard. I never had a horn that wears out,I believe it is defective & is a safety hazard. Lou bachrodt's Chevrolet 954-247-3000 had me wit until I hung up,they would fix it only if I paid to replace it.

21 Horn Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/23/2008

I own a 2003 chevy Impala. In 2007 I began having problems with the car doors not locking and then the horn going off when I opened the door. A fuse was blowing out so I was instructed by one of the mechanics at the dealership to buy some fuses and change them as they go out. I also had issues with the car not wanting to start. I had the car at the dealership 6 times. The last time it was brought in via tow truck because it wouldn't start at all. No computer codes ever registered. In exasperation they replaced the body control module. This seemed to "fix" the problem. Now a year and a half later and out of both my warranty and extended warranty we're having the same problems again. I've taken it again to the dealership and they drove it for three days. Can't find anything wrong with it again. I drove it and today it wouldn't lock and or start. I waited about 30 minutes and was able to get it to start again. The car doesn't even have 80,000 miles on it and I'm sick of these problems! this car is not reliable transportation for me anymore and the dealership doesn't seem to be concerned. Why is there no recall on this? I think I'm going to have to go trade in my car for something more reliable since no one can seem to figure out these issues nor repair them!.

22 Horn Assembly problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/07/2008

23 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/06/2008

2005 Impala about 7 months ago the horn started to get weaker and weaker until in the last couple of weeks it just quit. When it started the vehicle was only 2 years old and purchased new it had 72k plus miles to date at the time there were approx 61k miles on the vehicle. In texas part of the state inspection is to have an operable horn, both the horns in front had to be replaced at a cost of $325. The vehicle was not covered under the manufactures warranty due to the number of miles. But again for state inspections this is a safety related part.

24 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/22/2007

About two years ago my speedometer quit working. I would be driving and it would register 100 mph when I was not going but about 30 mph. Around the same time my horn quit working. When I honked it, it would sound faint until it just quit. Also, when I try to put my car in gear it is really hard to at times. When it does finally go into gear it makes a really loud thud noise. Now I have a leak in my radiator that has been gradually getting bigger. I bought this car because it was supposed to be the safest. Now I'm not so sure.
