Underhood Wiring Problems of Chevrolet Impala

My car started a sound in the wiring such as a popping sound as if the wires are grounding out then something smell smoke then it started not cracking and I couldn't figure out way I thought it was the battery replaced it then wouldn't start again after I was told it was the battery the dash reads security on it this happen to my car my friends car and my husbands cousins car they are all Impalas all in 2002 I have also spoke to other people with them same problem want start reads security on dash wires ground out and hear popping sound and the battery drains from the head lights not turning of or security reads and the lights flash its broken down in my yard no one around hear really knows the problem they say its the security my husband believes its the wiring and it grounds out causing things to happen.

Car running well -no problems at all. Parked car a local shopping area. Apparently engine caught fire while I was in store. It was noticed by employee of store who called fire department. Although they came quickly the car had to be totaled as the fire consumed and melted the entire engine.

Consumer put keys in ignition, turned the keys, and heard a loud noise, and saw smoking coming from out the hood, engine had caught on fire. Contacted dealer.

As I put the key into the ignition - turn the key - a loud bang came from the car - when I looked out of the window smoke was coming from under the hood - so, I pop the hood, exit the car, lifted the hood and the engine was in flames - called the fire department to put the fire out - firemen stated that the engine was on fire.

A police officer parked tvehicle and shut the engine off after running the vehicle for an unknown time. Smoke started coming from underneath the hood and front end of vehicle. Local fire department extinguished the fire. No determination has been made as to the cause of fire. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

Consumer was driving for 1 hour and 10 minutes and got off highway when vehicle stalled out suddenly and could not restart. Vehicle had to be towed to dealer. But, dealer could not determine cause at this time. For the second time the vehicle stopped. The gm advised, the cause was the wire harness which dealer installed.

This is the second time in 12 weeks that my new vehicle has been back to the dealer for repairs. This is not acceptable. No safety defect listed.

While driving there was a loud clunk. Driver pulled over, opened the hood, and discovered flames coming from engine. Vehicle has not been seen. There was a hole in the gas line where it went into the engine and this caused a flash fire.

The consumer was parking vehicle, smelled smoke and noticed engine was on fire. Front harness wires overheated. Consumer lost power steering, and when the consumer went to move the vehicle, there was some type of fluid on the ground under. Fire department came out and put out the fire.

Rear of engine block wiring chaffed causing malfunctions in speedometer.

While parking noticed smoke coming from the hood area. When the hood was opened there was a fire that caused the vehicle to burn up totally. Dealer has been contacted. The fire department put the fire out, cause undetermined.
