The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds , she would stop at a traffic light ,sporadically the steering wheel would start to vibrate. The contact stated that the power steering assist warning light , and the traction control light would illuminate at the time of failure. The contact stated that she then took her vehicle to a independent mechanic who advised that the vehicle needed further diagnostic , and she should take it to the dealer . The contact stated that she contacted the dealer who advised her that there was a recall , however the recall had expired . The contact stated that she then contacted the manufacturer who advised her to contact NHTSA. The failure mileage was 103,967.
Power steering - when turning the steering wheel, you feel non-smooth condition, unusual humming or moaning noise. Some power steering fluid had to be replaced but no noticeable leak is evident. Had private auto mechanic look into problem and he advised to let dealer take care of it because they have the computerized equipment to make appropriate repairs.
