Power Steering Light On problems of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu - part 1

Intermittently my car esc service power steering light goes on and the power steering goes out. I have to pull over and turn the engine off and then the power steering comes on. I'm an older woman and am terrified to get on a freeway or busy street because I can barely steer the car when the power steering goes off. After reading numerous reports online, this seems to be a defect with the car and is very expensive to repair. Since I'm not in a position to spend the money right now, it feels as though I take my life in my hands every time I drive. There is no predicting when the steering goes out. Sometimes it's several times a week, sometimes it's month between. Very dangerous!!!!.

This is been going on for the last couple weeks the end of April this is now may 10 2020 I am on unemployment and I am trying to get the car that I got for my daughter fixed.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred back to the dealer for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. Aw.

Same issue as everybody else. I lose steering while driving down the road. Something to do with the power steering. My steering wheel locks up and im anybody to turn the car. This happens while driving down the road parked or pretty much at anytime. When it does work my steering wheel jerks. While driving it jerks as well very scary stuff. This was special type of recall with a exp date? really so you only care about the people driving your car for 5 years? after that who cares if they die huh.

The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. Upon investigation, the contact linked his failure with NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering). The vehicle was not repaired. I was driving and the power steering light came on and steering got real hard to turn and now I have no steering power to drive and I'm scared to drive and also my car be in reverse and it went forward.

Esc turns off and on by itself while driving. Service power steering light comes on and the wheel is hard to turn I have to kill the car and restart it to get it to start working again. When I press my breaks the car jerks and the esc acvtive light comes on. The passenger side headlight goes in and out by itself I've replaced the bulb but it seems to be a wiring issue.

While driving and in motion the vehicle back in January I would lose all steering control, the eps light would come on. I work 45 miles from home and most of that is highway. I had to slip the car into neutral, turn it off then back on to get it to kick back in 5 times before I was able to get it home. Stopping in the main highway was not an option as it was dark and not safe. I nearly ran into a medium barrier and had to stop all traffic behind going 65 mph or more. The car is still sitting in my driveway. Not safe - thank god my granddaughter was not in the care with me. When you turn the car on now there is no steering and the esp light is still on. I had a power steering light come one, and my esc light come on. These lights came on with no warning and disable those features while I was driving down the highway, going 57 mph, after a major ice and snow storm. I am unable to control my vehicle while it is on the road.

Power steering will work when it wants to some days it works all day other days it wont work at all and some days I loose power steering while driving my power steering light and service esc lights come on when power steering fails this is a scary problem to have when transporting my 4 kids.

I was driving out of town on the highway and my traction light came on then my steering esc light started flashing. The power steering went out and my car was difficult to steer off the road.

Well driving my car got hard to steer, the power steering light come on then I turned the car off, and restarted it then it began to drive back normal then it began to do the same thing again and every time I turned it off and started it back up it would return to normal but in order for the steering to return to normal I have to cut my car off and then turn it back on. Just bought the car a few weeks ago and out of nowhere the power steering esc light pops on. I didn't ever hit pot holes or anything just a basic home to work car.

Steering wheel jerking while in park and while driving to the point you had to put a lot of strength into keep car in lane, service esc: power steering warning light chimes and comes on while driving, steering wheel locks up while trying to pull over on the side of the road. I took the car to kipo Chevrolet, the codes that came up were c0545(00), u0121, and c0661. Kipo Chevrolet stated torque sensor readings were surging around not holding steady, would have to replace torque sensor and re-evaluate concern.

My power steering light is on in my car. The power steering is acting up. I have the electronic powering steering system on my Malibu that was recalled due to malfunctioning. My car is currently experiencing this problem. Chevy recalled over 1. 3 million vehicles for this same problem. My VIN # is apparently not listed on the recall list but I still have the problem. I would like chevy to have to fix this. My steering power steering is acting up and I feel this is dangerous.
