The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. As the contact approached the vehicle, he noticed that the windows appeared to be black due to smoke inside the passenger compartment. He opened the door and noticed that the dashboard and instrument panel were melted and burned. The failure extended to the drive shaft area. The vehicle has not been repaired. The VIN and engine size were unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 50,000.

2 Dash Wiring problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/01/2006

Upon starting the car, the instrument panel was completely down except for the low fuel warning light however the car had a full tank. Power would return to the instrument panel intermittently when the turn signal was engaged. The fault cleared after shutting the vehicle off for a few minutes.

5 Dash Wiring problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 05/28/2005

Multiple problems with 2005 chevy Malibu. 1. ) key sticking in ignition. Returned car to dealer 3 times. Two of these times the key could not be removed from the ignition. Ignition switch replaced and park cable adjusted twice. 2. ) traction control (t/c), abs and brake lights come on at engine start up. A sensor was replaced in right rear wheel hub and bearing. In addition, the ebcm computer to the break system has been replaced. Vehicle is now in for service for the 6th time. All 3 lights are on again. I have filed a complaint with general motors on 6/13/05 with multiple attempts to follow up on my file #1-34200114 but have not had a response other than they are researching my concerns.

The turn signals work off and on ,I never know if they will work or not . If they don't work I found if you push on the emergency flasher swith they might come on. This car was recalled for this problem but the dealer says it doesn't include my cars VIN the NHTSA campaign id number is 03v327000.

Consumer complained about an electrical problem. Consumer took vehicle to dealership and had the work done on July 1, 2004. Vehicle had only 100 miles. On August 13,2004 the dashboard lights failed, and the tail lights were out. On August 23, vehicle had the same problem. Consumer parked the vehicle and the locks automatically unlocked while the vehicle was still running. Also, the air conditioner was running when the key was not in the ignition.

The air conditioner doesn't cool properly. It seems that once my car is getting cool the air conditioner will shut off and will blow warm air. There also is a short between the recirculating air button and the outside air button. The lights will blink on and off simultaneously without even touching the buttons. Sometimes an odor will come from the air conditioner. The rear-passenger door is hard to open. My rotors have been resurfaced and replaced. My brake pads have also been replaced but my brakes still grind and squeek.
