Passenger side headlight went out. The connector to the headlight is melted this is the fourth time it has happened. General motors will not do anything about it. It gets replaced every time and that connector keeps getting melted making it hard to see while driving at night.

When I was driving at night my passenger side headlight went out. This is not the first time this has happened. Have had it replaced for other times and the connector to the headlight keeps melting. Then there is a smell of plastic melting almost like it is going to catch on fire.

My 2011 Chevrolet Malibu has had 5 incidences over the last year of low beam headlights going out. Never both at the same time. This is not only annoying and expensive each time I bring it in for repairs. It is also dangerous. Particularly when one of the headlights goes out at night time driving on dark roads. Additionally a headlight out is sufficient reason for law enforcement to issue a summons. I contacted general motors may 20th 2019 via phone regarding this safety issue. Received a case number. I received a call back 6 days later. Response was that the car is out of warranty. I did inform gm that there are literally over 300 listings on google for persons with the same problem. Gm shows no interest in this expensive repair, in a repetitive problem, and an illegal situation that can result in law enforcement issuing a summons. Apparently there are issues with the connectors at the bulbs not making contact. The replaced connectors exhibit overheating which may indicate overload of power, or connectors not making contact. This problem took place with original gm connectors intermittently - never on both headlights at once. Here is a similar complaint to NHTSA id number 11204441 4/12/2017 complainant states 5 repairs and still a problem with headlight intermittently going out on driver side. Additionally there are several hundred similar complaints on the web regarding 2010 & 2011 Malibu's. Because the fenders and under the hood plastic panels must be pulled to get at the headlights. . . . This is quite an expensive repair and is repetitive and frequent as well.

My passenger headlight went out on the highway at night. I replaced the light and it went out the next day. I took the car to get serviced and found out that the headlight pigtail was melted. I believe the problem to be the drl relay switch because there are numerous Chevrolet models having this problem.
While parking the vehicle and placing the shifter to park the car gives an error message "shift to park" after turning off the engine. Headlights will not turn off and I imagine other electrical systems still run during this error. Since the message never went away while I was at a non-gm auto repair shop in for routine oil change and brake check, they needed to replace the transmission control unit so that the car could turn off completely. They also found a TSB (attached) on this issue that informed them on how to fix the "shift to park" error. Since the repair was not at a gm dealer the cost was out of pocket. Have contacted gm and so far they are saying since there is no recall there is nothing they can do in terms of reimbursement.
Front low beam lights keep going out replaced low beam bulbs 3 times in 6 months and replaced harnesses once and low beam headlights continues to go out. Brake lights stay on when car is started and continues to stay on while driving. 3rd brake light doesn't work all the time. It lights up bright sometime, dim sometime, and other times it don't work at all.
My headlights keep going out. I have changed bulbs on both passenger and driver side and then light went back out at different times on both sides. I then noticed that passenger headlight went out again, and this time when I went to change it, it came on when I touched the pigtail so I figured there was a short somewhere. When I took the lightbulb out, I noticed the pigtail was fried, so I changed the pigtail and bulb this time. A few weeks go by and the same exact thing happens to the other side. I changed the light bulb and pigtail on the drivers side. This continues to happen and I've not mentioned how difficult it is to change the bulb. The whole front bumper assembly pretty much has to come off. This is not easy to do and is a pretty bad design flaw. Since I've noticed that the light comes on when the pigtail is shaken, I have to disassemble the bumper just to get to the light. Someone really needs to look at this. Finally, I must also add, I have seen more than 10 chevy Malibus, not sure of the year, but is the same model as mine, with a headlight missing. It makes me wonder, are these people having the same issue? do these people maybe just have a headlight blown but knows the headache it is to remove whole front bumper assembly just to change headlight? have these people gotten tired of changing the headlight because it keeps blowing out? please look into this.
Driver side headlight malfunctioning multiple times in past year. Head light will go out, at first could tap on head light and it would come back on. Have changed pigtail and bulbs only to have it work for a short period of time.
Low beams both headlights repeatedly go out. Heater/air conditioner turns off and on by itself. Motor has been changed and tested. Is there a wiring problem with this vehicle across the board. I read a lot of people with this vehicle have the exact same issues. Heater/air turns off while in park or drive randomly.
Passenger low beam head light goes out every 2 months. I have replaced this 3 times. Replacing the headlight requires removing the front bumper and it is $120 just to remove the bumper to determine the issue. New connector and pigtails have not solved the burnout issue. Upon an internet search, I found other have the same issue with passenger headlight. . Read more...

Takata recall. Steering locked up while driving going around a corner and took a few minutes to get it to unlock. Happened to my wife with our son in the car. This happened before we got the recall. Got the recall fixed and now the power steering warning light is coming on. Headlight are constantly blowing bulbs. The headlight will go out so I will go to replace the build and then it comes back on. Front right turn signal goes out a lot and if I tap on it then it comes back on. The same with the rear tail light goes out often. This summer the traction control would ding and the button would not turn it on or off. When did this happen question doesn't make sense. It is a on going events.

Slowed down to take a right turn, turned right and started to speed up and the headlights shut off and would not come back on. I had to drive home, holding the bright lights on manually. Even at 20 mph, it was very scary, could not imagine this happening at the speed of 55 or higher. Very dangerous!!.

The dash board lights do not always come on when the car is first started and sometime they go off while driving. My son-in-law told me to pull over, shut off the motor, pump the foot feed 3 times and then restart the vehicle. That seems to work most of the time. But I should not have to do that. I have had the head lights go out at night when I hit a bump and then they came back on when I hit another bump. The cruise control does not always work. I received a notice that my taillights may not always work and to let them know if I have that problem. Well hell I am driving the car not running along behind it!! do I have to wait until someone rear-end me to find out that they don't work? not sure what kind of airbags I have in this vehicle but with history of electrical problems that may also be an issue. These problems have existed from the time the car was new. I have had it in to different shops to have it checked out and every time they tell me they think it is fixed. I am just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Is the competition for car makers so vicious that they need to rush production at the cost of customer safety to get vehicles out ahead of their competition? they continue to put more bells and whistles on these vehicles so they can charge us more up front and for continuous repairs. This is totally insane. Give me back my '57 chevy. Never had any of these safety issues with that honey!!!.
