I have a 2012 chevy Malibu lt and at random times the car will shut down, while driving, while being stationary, and sometimes it don't even start when it's been off I took it to multiple mechanics and they couldn't detect any codes or seem to find the problem they changed the fuel pump, the fuel pump relay, the fuse, the ecm starter ignition coil, battery, alternator and the car still doesn't start randomly I have to turn the car to the on position then off more than 30 times and wait until I hear the fuel pump activate then I know it will start I have had the car cut off on me on the freeway, in the middle of malik a turn on busy streets I've been out at family events and when I tried to go home the car wouldn't start I need help.

Upon acceleration power steering stops working and power steering warning message shows. Gm dealer service center advised that it is the ignition coil. Replaced with a newer version of the ignition coil and added a ground strap based on the detected error codes and a service bulletin from gm.

The power steering assist suddenly quit several times while driving; both at freeway speed and while exiting the freeway at about 15 mph. When the power steering fails the steering column would make a clicking sound, sometimes there would be a chime and the battery light indicator on the dash. Only one time the center console displayed "power steering. " we narrowly avoided a crash while going around a curve in the freeway. The loss of power assist required exerting more force than normal to avoid colliding with the divider. When the power steering re-engaged without warning we swerved towards a truck in the adjacent lane. We took it to the nearest dealer who said it's a faulty ignition coil causing a short in the power steering. Cost quoted was $500 to fix in addition to $450 for the shifter cable that also went out.
