Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the rpm gauge increased; however, the transmission gears failed to change over while the vehicle was driving on the highway. As a result, there was a drastic reduction in speed and the contact had to maneuver the vehicle with extreme difficulty to prevent a crash. Initially, performance Chevrolet (1005 w ehringhaus st, elizabeth city, nc 27909, 252-338-9100) was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure with the service center manager. At 10,000 miles my 2019 Chevrolet Malibu started to sputter and lose power. Taking off at a green light, driving on highways, turning at intersections, or turning against traffic has all become dangerous because the car will not gather enough power to go, leaving my car stuck on roads and in the middle of intersections. We were placed in a rental 2019 Chevrolet Malibu with 11,000 miles that also had power problems and left us stuck in a running car being approached by oncoming traffic. . The dealership diagnostic came up as transmission failure, in multiple brand new 2019 Chevrolet Malibus. Me, my family, and hundreds of thousands of motorists are in danger by driving this car, or even being on the road with these cars.

Transmission failure, car will turn off on interstate or highway without warning, car will shut down while driving , roll backwards, won't accelerate. Had to get towed 3 times! after new transmission , sensors and fuel pump injector , the car is still doing the same thing ! this is a safety hazard and a lack of responsibility for defected products and price gauging mechanics ! problem is still existing. I see this car is under many recalls and the transmission was built in korea!.

I purchased a 2017 chevy Malibu last week. I was looking over the data on the chevy website. Chevy is listing two different hp ratings for this car. One area states 163hp & 184 lb-ft torque. The other says 160hp & 184 lb-ft torque. The main issue I have is with the transmission. Gm says the car comes with a 6t45 transmission. That transmission is rated at 215hp & 232 lb-ft torque. Enough for the rated engine. The transmission in the car is a 6t40. Rated at 180hp & 177 lb-ft torque. The torque on the motor is 184 lb-ft at 2500 rpm to 3000 rpm. I work and live in phoenix, az. 95% of driving is city driving. I am past the max of the transmission most of the time. This transmission will fail very fast in this heat. Plus the epa fuel rating I'm sure was calculated with the transmission advertised by gm not in the car. I own a car that is not at all what I thought it was.

Driving in traffic, vehicle suddenly lost power and I had to pull out of traffic, nearly causing an accident. Engine revved, rpms were high. Shut car off, restarted and car would not get out of second gear. I had the car towed to a Chevrolet dealer, who told me my transmission failed due to a wave plate issue. Although 6t70 transmission warranty was extended to some 6 speed 2009 Malibus, I was told mine was not, even though the problem is known to exist in all gm 6 speed transmissions. This transmission is a definite safety hazard and the 10 year 120k mile extended warranty should be offered to every automobile with this transmission.
Defective door latches. Both driver side front and back door problems since I purchased my 2010 Chevrolet Malibu back in 2012. Driver door would not open or not shut. Contacted gm twice and no assistance from gm. I purchased a aftermarket door latch and replaced the driver door latch in Jan 2018 and have no more problem since. Driver back door I have not been able to open since 2015 and because the back door wont open, there is no way to replace the latch. If a fire or accident happens there is no exit from drivers side back door. Without warning on a 7 year old vehicle, the transmission failed in Aug 2017 136000 miles. Expensive replacement.
I purchased a 2010 chevy Malibu on Monday June 28th at finnegan Chevrolet in houston texas. At the time of purchase it had 14 miles on the odometer. My family and I started to drive back home to kentucky and at about 300 miles on the unit, the speedometer started to act up with fluctuations and then dropped to 0, upon which we called on-star as an emergency and they checked the vehicle and they said we could continue to drive it and have it checked within 24 hours. We stopped for gas and restarted our travel when at 450 it started becoming worse. We checked again with on-star and they said it had 3 error singles but we should be able to make it back. At 491 miles, the transmission completely failed while driving at 75 miles and hour and almost created an accident but my son was able to bring the car to a stop. We didn't continue but had the car towed to gwatney chevy in jacksonville, ar. They next day we were told it was a computer malfunction and they road tested the car and it would make it to kentucky. I took over driving and just 5 miles down the road, lost complete drivetrain/transmission control at 72 miles per hour in a construction zone and almost had an accident again do to the drop in speed. This is two episodes with this vehicle in 24 hours and no assurance from the manufacture it wouldn't happen again. The car is back in gwatney chevy in jacksonville, ar.
On Saturday, August 18, 2007 my wife and I were traveling at 60 mph along a windy, hilly stretch of road. At the top of the third hill, the transmission dropped to zero. After coasting down the hill, I was able to continue in first gear only. After stopping for 15 minutes, I was able to continue driving in low gears. However, if I tried to accelerate quickly (such as to merge with interstate traffic, or to make a legal u-turn) then the transmission failed again. On Sunday, August 19, I took the vehicle to a service station and had the transmission flushed and filled. My hope was to avoid any mechanical problems. However, this service did not resolve the problem. On Tuesday, August 21, I took the vehicle to my local chevy dealer who told me the clutch was completely burned out. They asked me why I waited so long to have the transmission serviced. I pointed out to them that the owner's manual states that it is a "maintenance free" transmission that should never need servicing.
While driving on highway travelling approximately 70mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission failed. Ts.
