"service park assist system" always comes back no matter how many times I've taken it to a chevy dealer! no known fix - straight from gm there isn't any known fix. They thought it's when you use remote start . . . Well I didn't use the remote start after chevy "reprogrammed" the car and the message came back and I cannot use the park assist system plus why have a feature that cannot be used. Car is below 50,000 miles and very lightly driven - the average speed according to the car's computer is 38 mph. Also service transmission comes up with some solenoid trouble code and displays "service transmission" at first intermittently, but now every time the vehicle is started. It bangs into when shifting from 1 to 2 when driven. The body panel on the door between the doors is flaking. I've gotten a "shift to park" message when the vehicle was already in park which drains the battery.

Vehicle has been giving problems since I purchased from the dealer, well about 60days into my purchase. Real problem is that it jerks constantly at times it doesn't move due to according to my own diagnostics the transmission converter torque solenoid and this should be happening. It happens every time I'm on the hey it takes too long to accelerate and many times not accelerating at all. It causes my gas to decrease. The other day I was 30min from my residence and it took 5 hours, literally for me to get home. Computer system started blinking consistently. Engine light stays on. Winsdahield wooer lifts stays on. Tc lights stays on. Everything about this car within 60 days stays on. This is horrible.
In August 2019, my 2015 chevy Malibu started having with the variable valve timing (vvt) solenoid -part # 12633613 (abt. 80k miles). When accelerating into passing gear, the engine would step out of gear and the rpm's would rev very high while the car slowed. I would have to let off pedal until rpm's lowered, then accelerate slowly. My local garage diagnosed the bad part and began searching for a replacement. They discovered that (1)-gm is the only company that makes the part, (2)-that gm doesn't have any more replacement parts and (3)-gm is not going to make any more. They discovered that many gm dealerships have hundreds on back order also. In December I filed a complaint with chevy customer service; case # 9-5698216592 and conversed with vahmarta ph. #(866)-790-5600 and field rep; logan ext:5916533. Their final answer: (1) gm is the only company that makes the part, (2) gm doesn't have any more parts and (3) gm isn't going to make any more parts. Their final solutin: they offered me a $2,500 voucher towards a new vehicle. Gm is quite aware that this is a problem but is not offering a part to solve the problem. I am concerned about my safety and those around me on the road. The car doesn't accelerate or decelerate properly. What is a proper solution? thank you for your help.

This car has the auto stop feature which cannot be disabled. When I'm stopped and the auto stop engages, the car will no longer automatically restart. I have to put it in park, wait up to a minute or two, sometimes more and then it will start. Have talked to chevy dealer service, got no help. Went to 3 independent repair shops, ran codes but nothing showed up. One time I did get a check battery charge system warning. Battery is fairly new and checks out fine. A code came up to replace the valve timing solenoid which we did but still this autostop problem persists. I am afraid to drive this car because I could get rear ended in stop and go traffic, I get temporarily stranded at intersections and people behind me are not always understanding. . Called gm headquarters today- was told to take it to a dealership. I called a chevy dealership, they didn't have any idea what could be wrong. I can't afford to keep taking it in to shops and get no answers. One shop said they've seen several cars with this issue, they couldn't diagnose it. The car is dangerous because it stalls. I don't know what to do.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving at various speeds the vehicle hesitated. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called reymore Chevrolet 746 n main st, central square, NY 13036 315) 668-2673 where diagnosed that the vvp rocker oil solenoid was stuck needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired however was not repaired due to parts on back order. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 100,000. Ap.
I was driving on the i89 north in concord, nh when the car suddenly stopped accelerating and the rpms went really high. I heard a spinning noise - like something was spinning at a high rate of speed. Pressing the gas peddle didn't increase the cars speed. Then I shifted to the manual mode and tried to use the gear shifting paddles to shift. I was able to get it to a gear to get me to the next exit even though it kept shifting in and out of gear while I proceeded slowly off the highway. The check engine light came on steady. At highway speeds this was a very dangerous situation that put myself and everyone around me at risk of a major accident. Once I was off the highway and safe, I plugged in my diagnostics tool I carry in my car (I took a auto repair class a few years back). The diagnosis codes the cars computer provided are p0776 and p0700 - indicating a major malfunction of the transmission and a solenoid problem. I took a photo of the codes. I found out today that there is an extended warranty for the same issue on the 2009 chevy Malibu's. The extended the warranty from 5/100k to 10/120k. Clearly gm should do the same for the 2010 models as well. It's the same 6 speed transmission.

On November 1, 2017, while driving home on the expressway I hear this loud revving noise, I turn my radio off and realize it is my car making the noise and than the check engine light comes on. When I was able to I pulled over to the shoulder and turned my car off in hopes of the error clearing out. After a few minutes I turned the car back on only to find that the check engine light was still on, when it was save to do so, I pulled back into traffic with my hazard lights as I could not go over 20 to 30 mph without the rpm going up. I made it home, tried to back into my garage only to find that my car will not go in reverse. I put the car back in drive, pulled around to the front of the house and parked the car. Since it was after midnight, I called Chevrolet the next day and the only thing they could help me with was to get in touch with a dealership to schedule an appointment to take the car in for diagnostics as my car was no longer under warranty and there is no recall on this model year although there is a recall for models 2007 thru 2009 for the same issues. My service adviser called me later that day to tell me it was due to transmission failure, they found metal in the transmission and his advice was to replace the transmission. My diagnostic code was p0776( pressure solenoid 2 stuck off), my bill $3946 for car that has 84000 miles on it. A car that I am still paying a car note on. When I purchased it 4 years ago it had just under 30000 miles on it. I have done everything to maintain my car because my biggest fear is being stuck on the side of the road, especially since I am a woman working 2nd shift. I do not have my repair invoice yet as I have not picked my car up yet, its not so easy to come up with nearly $4000.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. While attempting to shift the vehicle from park to reverse, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the transmission module and solenoid were updated and reset; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v224000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

While driving 50 mph down the highway in my 2008 chevy Malibu (106,800 miles) the traction control light came on and information center read "engine power deduced" and my car slowed to 20 mph almost immediately with no warning to me or the vehicles behind me. Luckily there was a wide shoulder and I veered off to avoid being rear ended as I had my 3 child all in car seats in back. I called the dealership but as they weren't open yet, I did what I had to as one of my children is a special needs child and was almost time for his seizure medication and drove the car on to my mother in laws 4 miles away. I drove down the shoulder of the highway for approximately 1 mile to make it to my mother in laws turn then the next 3 miles to her house was less congested with traffic luckily. The car had a slight shake to it almost and something seemed like it was rattling almost under the hood but a slow rattle not like a knocking sound tho. After the dealership opened I took the car to them after shutting off and restarting car ran normal again. They said they could find the issue in the history. Chevy told us the cam shaft solenoid had internal failure and needed replaced. We got it fixed and changed spark plugs and did a small tune up to make sure that was the whole issue solved. Last night just a day later the same thing happened as my husband was driving the car. This is an issue with many newer chevy cars some still with just 50,000 miles on them. It is a major safety concern and needs to be addressed with gm in a recall I am afraid before more lives are taken due to faulty engineering and parts! please look into this further! chevy also found a crack in the exhaust manifold that they are replacing for free already as well as multiple other recalls we are awaiting parts for.
I've owned the car for 18 months. November 2012, I reported to my gm dealer of loss of power when driving. Car's resistant to acceleration attempts, loses power at varying speeds from 30 mph and up. Vehicle brought in, dealer stated there were no problems. December 2012, while driving at approximately 30mph, car engine stopped running, car came to stop on active train tracks with children in car, no power steering, not able to shift into drive, neutral or reverse, park. Once ignition was turned off, vehicle would not start. Towed vehicle in for service, was told transmission needed to be replaced due to a bad solenoid. Vehicle still having problems two months after. January 2013 brought vehicle in for same issue, losing power, no acceleration, rpm's would rev and then rapidly drop while driving without foot on gas pedal. Was told by dealer nothing is wrong with car. February 2013, change oil light was one for three months, even after having oil changed. Brought to dealer to have reset. May 2013, vehicle still losing power, rpm's revving and rapidly dropping, dash lights randomly dimming without touching dimmer knob, driver's door will not open from inside and will not lock/unlock despite multiple methods, once open door will not latch to close and door bounces open again, auto start lags at time and randomly doesn't work. I have an appointment to bring vehicle in for service next Monday, not optimistic as the dealer keeps telling me there's nothing wrong with the car and they are unable to replicate, they state they are not aware of any other known issues on this vehicle, despite there being many many TSB's online for the same issues I've been experiencing. I haven't owned the car for even two years, traded in a beautiful new camaro for it to transport my children in a safe car, yet this vehicle has been nothing but problems and headaches.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle independently shifted into neutral for approximately 10 seconds and would not accelerate. Approximately 10 seconds later, the vehicle began to accelerate as normal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the solenoid was faulty. The authorized dealer was waiting for the manufacturers permission to replace the solenoid. The failure and current mileages were 3,000. Updated 10/13/bf updated 10/19/jb.
Automatic transmission surges and seems to want to upshift, especially when car is driven on an incline at highway speeds. I started noticing this 2002 and have been putting up with this defect for years. I believe this is caused by a faulty transmission tcc solenoid, as many other chevy Malibu owners complain of the same problem. This is a safety issue due to not allowing driver to maintain a constant speed on the highway.
