Brake Abs Warning Light Problems of Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I own a pristine 2003 monte ss, stored every winter and maintained by my mechanic husband. I have 2 issues with the car. First, I never use my bright lights because my headlights go out if I do. Second I am having brake issues. I have had the same thing with a silverado truck before. Abs would come on a slow speeds when not needed, dry pavement or gravel. Really scares me because I had an accident in my silverado truck from this same problem. Now my abs light and service traction control are always on and not working. I have been a die hard chevy owner but I am so unhappy with the break systems in them. I have another foreign car that I drive in the winter and love the brakes.

I was driving on the freeway and my steering was tighter at 75 mph. My abs light came on which has flashed on before about 6 times but quickly went off. I thought those time my car was just having a computer fluke. But this time the abs light was lit with my steering tight. Traction control light came on and said it was off. My brakes started to lock on me as I tried to pull over which was a hassle considering I couldn't turn the wheel easily . Eventually I was able to pull over without a major accident although it was a close call. It took more than 1/2 a mile to get my car to stop. My car was towed. The wheel hub was so damaged that the repair shop said that they are surprised it didn't fall off. The sensors were just floating around . Thus my abs and traction control warning lights turning on and off. This vehicle has never been in an accident or any other situation to cause this damage. My vehicle had 50,000 original miles at time of failure. The sway bar completely broken. Which I was told the repair shop has seen several gm vehicle's with this sway bar problem. My lower control arm had to be replaced as well as it was damaged with the other components. I do have proof of repairs.

I went to turn and my service traction control and abs lights came on. While turning, I lost power to the breaks and felt and heard a grinding/whining noise in the brakes and could not stop. The vehicle now has a whining noise when turning without braking at all.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. While driving various speeds, the check engine, service traction, and abs warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front wheel hub with the abs sensor needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger side wheel hubs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were contacted or notified. The approximate failure mileage was 127,856.

I just purchased this vehicle. The car is in great condition. However, for a vehicle with low miles, these problems should not be an issue. Abs braking system problems; suspension problems; noise in the tires. Abs light comes on and abs pump is making a humming sound; suspension, I have popping sounds when turning at slow speeds; loud humming sound coming from rear tires (I have read about the caliper issues with this model vehicle) I have yet to take and address the caliper problem but, my guess is that the brake calipers will need to be replaced. If these problems are happening to more and more of these cars, why has gm not recalled and fixed some of these problems. Mainly, the brake problems. This a potential life threatening problem. I am afraid to drive this car; I am worried that the breaks will fail, and I will crash the car. This saddens me that gm, the monstrous car manufacturer, has not fixed this problem that they sure know of. I will not be buying another gm model, and "I will" let others know all the problems I have had with gm model cars; this is not my first gm but, "will be" my last.

2 complaints. When starting off from a stop position and making a hard left the service traction system light comes on and the trac off light comes on and the abs light comes on and the car makes a grinding noise. Only does this at this time. The second complaint is the overhead driver control panel will not come on and then after driving a ways it will come on. When off the air or heat or defrost will not work. I have replaced it once and now it is doing it again. I have not done anything about the lights for the traction.

Tl-the contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the contact drove over a puddle of water and the abs light and traction control light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact restarted the vehicle and the problem recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The contact declined the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000. Ap.

I started to hear a slight clicking sound when I pressed on my brakes, only every once in a while, like the sound I would hear when I would hit a pot hole in the road while I was braking and my "low traction" light would come on. It progressively had started to get worse over the course of the month. I have had two garages look at my car, and they cannot figure out what is making the repeated and very evident clicking sound everytime the brakes are touched. I have had a diagnostic test done on the car and no codes are showing up. They say it could be the abs module, but they are not sure, and that I would have to bring it to the dealership to have it investigated further. They were (the garages) both puzzled at what this sound would be caused by.

On our 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo the service traction system and abs light comes on. Now the brakes occasionally feel like they are trying to lock up when coming to a stop. A mechanic said it was about $1500. 00 to repair but it would be fine without repair. Now we are not so sure. Others have said that even dealerships don't know how to fix the problem. Changing the brake pads and rotors works for a very short time then the lights come back on.

Abs and tac off light come on stay on and service traction system light comes on took to shop if didn't fix (meaning I have no antilock brakes and they thing its the abs motor pump think) I wont be able to get a inspection sticker and they said it will cost 1600 to fix and went on web and seen many hundreds of 2002 monte owners are having the same problem.

Trac off and abs lights stay on and the message center says service traction system. Went on line and noticed that a lot of people are experiencing the same problem. They have tried to get the problem fixed without success. Could be a potential safety issue.
