Abs/traction light goes on and then off.
I have a 1999 Monte Carlo that repeatedly has engaged the abs brake system for no apparent reason at low speeds only, often decreasing the ability to stop the car. I have seen many published reports of this problem in gm trucks and would like it known its not limited to trucks/SUV's.

1. Anti-lock braking system - warning light came on - mechanic checked system determined the system shut down due to corrosion of the abs relay in the fuse block --- 2. Brake system worked, abs did not ----- 3. Replaced abs relay switch, fuses, and fuse block.
The consumers son was driving, when al l of a sudden the brakes locked up and did not release.
While applying the brakes pedal vibrated, resulting in less braking power due to abs braking system failure. Dealership was aware of the problem because vehicle was towed to dealer for the same problem twice.

Braking problems:
I own a 1996 chevy Monte Carlo and I have recently been experiencing braking problems. The low track light comes on periodically and I lose almost all of my brakes. It is very difficult to stop and I feel this needs to be investigated, it seems that I am not the only consumer with braking concerns and problems. Someone is going to get killed.

Brake pedal goes down when the car is in stop position as a result moves foward you have to press down the pedal the dealer replace the master cilinder but the car still doing the same thing. I took the car back to the dealer for repair, but they say they cant mach what I say. So what I am suposse to do the car is very unsafe to drive. And they diagnostig was wrong, I got a second oppinion that is mayby the buster, the car stay in the dealer two day and because nothing wrong was found I have to pay for a car rented. Where I can take the car for second oppinion with authority over the dealer? I have a warranty in this car.
No brakes when highway is wet even after recall was done.
No summary listed for avbove vehicle.
In wet weather, the brakes on this car take alot longer to stop the vehicle than the driver anticipates. The brakes feel mushy, and the brake pedal has to be pushed down quite alot to even slow down at a somewhat reasonable rate. And even then, the car takes alot of distance to come to a stop. When I called a Chevrolet service depatrment, I was told that it was normal for anti-lock brakes in wet weather. However, I have had several cars with antilock brakes before this one, and none of them ever had the problem with slowing down in wet conditions that this 1999 chevy Monte Carlo LS has had. It has gotten so bad in wet weather, that I finally parked it. It is not safe to drive in wet weather.
Rear brakes wobble, causing a bad vibration that can be felt through the seat when driving. At around 11,000 miles I took the car back to the dealer. The rotors were turned on all 4 wheels. This helped, but after about 2000 miles the wobble and vibration returned. I feel there is a problem with the anti-lock brakes causing the vibration, because when I mash on the brakes hard the vibration is much less, sometimes no vibration at all. The car does not want to stop well unless pressing hard on the brake pedal, especially when wet. I am sending you this message because I feel there is a problem with the anti-lock braking system and I am tired of being treated like I am a liar and I am stupid. I have driven several hundreds of thousands of miles and I know how brakes are supposed to work. The brakes on this car do not perform properly. My driving habits allow me to get 70,000 plus miles on a set of brakes. I currently have a 1999 Dodge ram with over 70,000 miles, that will not need brakes for another 30,000 miles probably. I need your assistance in this matter. Thank you.

Brakes replaced twice with under 50,000 miles.
While driving at high way speed applied brakes, but they won't work at the time. There was no distance to stop behind another vehicle. This occurs during a light rain.
While going down a graveled driveway stepped on brakes, and only the left rear abs brake was working. Consumer could tell by the marks in the gravel.
On June 1, 2000 I was going to work, while driving down the highway I realized I was going a little faster than the speed limit and pressed the brakes. At that point in time my 1998 Monte Carlo LS veered to the left and I had no control. The car went through the median to oncoming traffic before I regained control. The marks on the road were felt to show that my brake system had locked up. (I do have the police report and pictures of the scene).
Ongoing problem with front wheels locking up on three occasions. Vehicle been in dealer shop, and various parts and repairs have been made, but problem reoccurred within a matter of time. The dealer tried to fix the problem eight times, but the problem reoccurs and it was even getting worse. The consumer was afraid of driving the vehicle.
Car simply has no brakes in heavy rain. Problem may be related to ea98-019, but my car is the LS model, not z34 which has four wheel disc brakes. Dealer claimed that the owner just doesn't know how to drive in the rain.

Brakes take 4-5 seconds to apply when wet at highway speed.
Informed by gm customer service that their 3yr/36,000 mile warranty does not cover anything to do with the brakes, no route to follow to escalate problem! can you advise??.
Hard to stop in rain at highway speed . Pedal goes to floor have been back to dealer 4 times . Turned rotors once problem still exsits.
When riding in the rain brakes will not work when having to make a sudden stop.
Hard stopping in rain at highway speeds. Dealer serviced brakes, but problem exsits.
Anti-lock system engages for minimum amounts of gravel, sand and bumps, this erratic operation may have cause brake rotors to warp. Nlm.
Ea98-019, degraded braking performance; consumer noticed noise coming from front wheel whenever brakes are applied while coming to an incline and turning at the same time. Dealer is not notified at this time.
Brakes: coming down the driveway at 5mph had foot on brakes when approaching the bottom was applying brakes harder and nothing happened, the brakes did not hold, car kept rolling, rolled into the street and a bus hit the car.
When the brakes are applied on wet surfaces the pedal goes down longer than normal, resulting in extended stopping distance. The dealer has been notified.
Brakes: when driving in very wet weather the brakes do not contact. Was told by technician that water is getting between pad and rotor, and they won't hold until the brakes dry out.
Anti lock brakes experience extended stopping distances in wet weather conditions.
Vehicle does not stop in rainy weather at any speed. Vehicle travels from 30 ft to 150 ft or more depending on speed, even if forcefully depressing brakes. Once was involved in a collision.
In very wet driving conditions, application of braking pressure to pedal does not initiate braking performance immediately. There is a delayed onset of braking of several seconds. This occurs regularly and predictably in very wet weather. It is clearly a dangerous defect and compensation has to be made for the deteriorated braking performance when conditions are wet. I can provide VIN number at a later time.
In wet weather when brakes are applied the vehicle will not stop. It takes about double pressure for the vehicle to stop.
