1 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 12/20/2004

Brake pedal went to floor, car would not stop. No warning lights came on. Noise from front right brakes when going forward or in reverse. Pedal to floor happened in good dry weather on both occasions. Abs was not active at time of incident. Took car to dealer and was repaired at no cost to me,car is under warranty and dealer gave me a loaner for the day. Dealer stated that "brake caliper was seized to pads". They cleaned and lubed "caliper sliders". Dealer was very cooperative I have no complaints with the dealer, they were excellent. I bought the car brand new and it had 16,500 miles on it at time of problem. I am the only operator of this car. I wanted to inform the people cause I see there are several problems with brakes on this car type. I will update if problem happens again.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I took the car to the dealer at 19000 miles due to shimmy in car. The replaced all rotors and calipers on the car. I again had the issue at 36100 miles the dealer would not replace and I called the gm customer service number. The said it is due to driver error and a maintenance item. I now have 53,000 miles on the car and need to replace everything again. Shouldn't rotors and calipers last more than 20,000 miles??? I have had numerous people approach me in parking lots complaining of the same issue.

5 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The brakes will not operate to stop the vehicle normally when driven in the rain at highway speeds. The pedal will get hard like there is no power brakes working. After you ride the brake with considerably more effort the brakes will return to normal and slow the car. If they are needed in an emergency situation, they are useless. The car was brought to the dealer when new. The rotors where changed but the problem persists. To this day I have to anticipate the problem when in the rain so as not to get into trouble from it. I think the company knows this is a problem since on the next year designed car the brakes where made much bigger. Both in the brake rotor size and the caliper and brake sixe. I am an a. S. E. Certified master mechanic so I know what I'm speaking about. Contact me if you like and I can explain more.
