Having the common traction control and abs problems with my 2003 monte ss. Cant believe this isn't part of a recall and only a TSB. At this point there doesn't seem to be an exact answer on what to have replaced to fix the problem. Just spend alot of money and hope you had the correct repair. Traction active comes on at slow speed and dry roads. Usually after backing up and then turning sharply. Anti locks have even engaged when they shouldn't. Again at slow speeds and dry roads. I'm appalled because I had the same problem with my chevy truck that caused me an accident. I'm very fearful of another accident. Gm had an investigator check my truck and they took responsibility for that brake failure. Going to try the wiring harness first and go from there I guess.

Abs operated erratically. Firstcrash resulted when consumer attempted to stop while approaching a stop light traveling at approximately 35 to 40 mph under cold/wet weather conditions, and brakes failed to engage. Vehicle rear ended another vehicle. Dealership examined vehicle at beginning of March, and found nothing wrong with abs. On March 16th, 2001, under rainy/icy conditions, consumer was traveling at approximately 30 to 40 mph when she tried to apply brakes. Brake pedal went to the floor, and braking system failed to engage. Vehicle went into a ditch, causing rear end of vehicle to swing around into ditch, and causing 3 tires to flatten, and $9000. 00 of damage. Consumer has not been in possession of vehicle since second occurrence. Dealership has provided consumer with no information as to the cause of this defect. The brakes fail completely when it gets wet and cold.

Brakes fail in rain have been to dealer four times am now going for fifth time please do not wait till somebody is killed before problem is found.
During inclement weather /rain brake system fails to operate properly. There is a delay of 10 to 15 seconds after brake pedal is pressed before vehicle slows down. Dealership has examined vehicle and cut out a part of the wheel well. This repair has failed to remedy the problem. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
Problem with brakes have always been there. Consumer ran a red light going 30 mph because vehicle wouldn't stop. Brake pedal goes all the way to floor, but it starts to slow down. Dealer has hooked vehicle up to a diagnostic machine, but problem doesn't show. Dealer is convinced that's the way they should work. The consumer had two accidents as the result of brake failures.

Brakes fail to respond properly in all wet conditions at any speed.
The vehicle has intermittent brake failure during wet or rainy conditions. The brake pedal will go to the floor and requires pumping to get the pressure back up. We have had the vehicle to 2 different dealerships. The dealer was unable to duplicate concern has a potential for catastrophic results. An associate of mine whom is a district service manager for general motors has informed me that there is a bulletin out on the brake pressure modulator valve for the w-body vehicles. But since the part is so expensive the dealers will not root cause the component and will not perform a bulletin search.

Brakes failed when they are wet. I'm not sure whether it's just the front brakes. When it's raining out ,it is dangerous. There is approximately a 5 second delay after you apply the brakes. One time in particular I was only going 40 mph, applied brakes, nothing, when they did grab the car went towards the right side of the roadway ,I almost lost control of it.
