1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 09/19/2016

Problem 1: driving near my home and vehicle quit on me. Gas gauge showed full but come to find out, I was out of gas. Good thing I wasn't traveling at a high rate of speed, like interstate driving. Problem 2: vehicle wouldn't start, I'm being told it is the passlock system. Security light has only come on 1 time. I never know when its going to start. Very worried when I travel by myself. These have happened at different times.

2 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

Issues with the bcm and passlock system. The car while on and driving will display security alongside the batt gauge quits working. If shut off car will not start, and light stay on. I have to disconnect the batt for some time. With the the auto lights sometimes come on during mid day with the sun shining. This is becoming a hassle. I'd rather purchase another car than go threw dealership hoops.

Vehicle will not start intermittently after it has warmed up. Has had the bcm changed and reprogrammed, the fuel system checked and filter changed; the fuel system relays have all been changed , the passlock and ignition cylinder with keys have been changed, and yet the problem persist. (note: all parts were brand new and gm parts) being a person in a certain criteria I never know when I may need to leave short notice but do not have the luxury of relying on this vehicle for that part of my job to get me there.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 11/22/2012

My 2002 chevy Monte Carlo has been experiencing electrical problems since I have owned it. The cruise control comes on without being selected and then the heating/cooling systems goes off and on by itself. The turn signal goes on and off. Sometimes it will work sometimes it will not. The fuel gauge does not register correctly goes up and down so I am never sure what is in the tank. Occasionally the car will not start at all even though the lights work, the radio plays, and everything else will operate inside the car. I will sit and wait a while. After about 15-25 minutes I will try to start it and then it will start up. This has been happening more and more. I have talked to other chevy Monte Carlo owner and they have had the same problems with their car.

11 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 04/16/2012

Security light on the dash comes on and vehicle will not start. This continued to happen during the past year and seems to be increasing in frequency. Seems as though there are many many gm owners that are having the same problem and in talking to gm they know about the problem but state it is the owners expense to fix the problem which ranges from $500. 00-$750. 00. With the multitude of complaints I feel gm should be issuing recall. I have been stranded numerous times late at night alone and safety is an issue. You never know where or when your car won't start!.

12 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

My 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo has had a recurring problem where on occasion the vehicle will not start. The key is turned and nothing happens. In order to get the car to start the key must be held in the start position for approximately 30 seconds, then it runs normally. In the past gm told me it was the bcm and I have, to-date, spent over $700 "fixing" the problem without success. I recently began researching on the internet and found that this is a very common problem with 1999 - 2004 gm vehicles but gm has refused to acknowledge a fix via recall (whereas Honda reportedly had a similar problem and did issue a recall). I urge the us government to force gm to acknowledge the problem (potentially with their passlock system) and fix our vehicles once and for all! please help!.

13 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

Periodically the car will not start. There was a recall that only replaced a portion of the key. The key will turn and all lights come on but it wont start. If you wait a few minutes and try again the car starts even though you have done nothing different. We took it to a repair shop and they are stating it needs a new ignition. I do not have a heavy keyring and only use the single key without the fob or anything and still have the problem.

The battery was completely drained and did not even have enough power left in it to even unlock the doors. Dealer subsequently replaced the body computer module. On 7/3, while driving in a business area, approximately 35 miles per hour, battery, airbag and seatbelt lights went on, speedometer froze at 35 miles per hour, and air conditioner compressor cut out. After 10 seconds the red lights went out and the speedometer worked again. After 1 minute the same thing happened for about 10 seconds, and then the lights went out and after about 30 seconds all events above happened again and after about 10 seconds the red lights went out and were replaced by the orange security light which stayed lit - and was still on when we left it with the dealer (some 20 minutes later). Dealer is now analyzing problem.
