1 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2003 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 02/05/2008

I am the original owner of a 2003 chevy s-10 pickup purchased in June 2003 that has less than 35,000 miles. In February 2008 when driving in local traffic and perfect weather conditions I suddenly heard a roar that sounded like a diesel truck and lasted only few seconds. I had never heard such a noise from my truck. About one quarter of a mile later the roar returned and the accelerator spontaneously depressed. I had to stand on the brake with all my strength to try to slow the truck. I stood on the brake for a distance of about 30 feet. I ultimately hit the car in front of me. I had to continue to stand on the brake to keep it from moving forward even after the impact. The person that was driving the car in front of me walked back to me and suggested that I turn off the engine. This stopped the roar (or "revved up") engine. The truck was towed to the dealership, but no problems could be detected by the computer diagnostics or the chevy dealers mechanic to explain the acceleration.

5 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2000 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 07/22/2001

The gas pedal sticks intermittently while the vehicle is in motion. That is, while driving normally, and I press on the gas pedal to accelerate the vehicle, the gas pedal will not release after I have taken my foot off the pedal. The depressed pedal will remain in this position until I have pumped it several times. Only after I have repeatedly pumped the gas pedal will it be released and returned to its normal position. While pumping the pedal, I must simultaneously apply the brake to decelerate the vehicle.

15 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 1998 Chevrolet S10

The gas pedal on this vehicle is extremely low, causing the shorter drivers to have to pull seat all the way forward. This is a safety issue because I am driving 5 inches from the steering wheel. I have noticed that this is a problem with the blazer as my mother owns one and we have rented several others, and all the gas pedals are about 4 inches lower than the brake pedal. This is also annoying and causes additional safety concerns because my foot frequently gets caught on the brake pedal when I shift my foot over (because the brake pedal is much higher), causing my stopping times to be longer than is safe.
