Car Accelerates On Its Own Problems of Chevrolet S10

Consumer stated vehicle experienced sudden acceleration when shifting from park into drive. Then, vehicle collided with garage door. Finally, vehicle stopped after submerging in a swimming pool. Dealer notified.

While my wife was driving along at approximately. 40 mph, the truck began to accelerate rapidly. Applying the brakes seemed to have minimal effect as the power of the engine seemed to overpower the braking. At that point she tried to shift the truck into neutral, but put it into reverse instead. This caused the rear wheels to lock, the truck then spun out of control and turned over upon striking the curb.

While traveling on highway throttle becomes stuck without prior warning. Dealership is aware of problem. *akwhile slowing down to exit the freeway, vehicle suddenly accelerated to a speed well over 50 mph. Even with consumers foot off the gas vehicle still accelerated. Consumer had to shut the vehicle off to stop. Took vehicle to mechanic and was informed the throttle plate bolts had come out of the throttle plate causing the throttle to lock in an open position.

While starting vehicle it would suddenly accelerate. Brakes did slowdown vehicle, but it took time which could result in a crash. Dealer had to replace throttle body unit. Common problem. Previously abs was on recall.
