Chevrolet S10 owners have reported 18 problems related to vehicle speed control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
(1) while sitting in heavy traffic at a stop light in the city. I have a habit of not stopping close to vehicles at stop lights. While stopped at the light behind a new looking explorer of some kind my truck lunged forward without warning by itself with my feet on the brakes. If I had stopped closer to the van I would have hit it very hard. I read no one can stand in front of the truck with the motor running because of this. (2) started my truck in my yard. It quickly idle very fast and would not idle down. Put in gear and it took off very fast and brakes locked up. Put in neutral and turned off the switch before the vehicle got in the highway still trying to stop with the hard brakes. My truck never did this before. I live in the city where young children play in the street in front of my home. It could have been deadly. Why do my truck do these things? I went into the computer looking for answers and found a lot of S10 owners had the same problems. If I had been driving in a curve, on the interstate or just some one crossing the street it would have been a very bad situation. I thank god for letting me be at home and no one was hurt just scared.
It just stalled and the radio keeps going on and off once in a while, also the tires keep going flat on me and I put fix a flat in them and they still do the same. Electric problem I think it might be the relay not sure. But it has electric problems.

While driving, vehicle surges/accelerates, during city driving/slower speeds, rpms stick between 3300 & 3500 rpms, releasing gas pedal, braking, taking out of gear has no effect, have to turn car off or wait, has almost caused crashes, have had to dealer twice, cannot verify condition. Currently have auto data recorder on vehicle.
The vehicle has been experiencing a throttle response problem, while driving the engine rpm's do not drop off fast enough on up shifts causing the engine to race. Scc.
Pieces of thottle body broke off and went into engine, ruining cylinder/piston #5. Dealer claims that someone broke it off. My machanic states that there is no evidence other than it snapping off.

Ongoing problems: whenever the clutch is applied vehicle would accelerate at a high rpm. Dealer inspected / repaired on three occasions and problem still reoccurs. Can NHTSA help in this matter.
For years my chevy s-10 1996 2wd truck would suddenly shut off on the road often at highway speeds. Chevy looked at the truck many times and always said they couldnt duplicate the problem. One time they talked me into a brand new transmission at 36100 miles. They didnt honor the warranty even though they said that the transmission was the shutoff problem and happened before the 36k warranty limit. That cost me nearly 4000 dollars. They truck continued to shut itself off while driving for years. It wasnt till a mechanic not affliated with gm told me to stop using more than one key on my keychain. This gm ignition recall goes way beyond 2005 and cobalts. It goes back to early 90's s-10 trucks. Now we should know why gm never accepted responsibilty for my truck and dropped the s-10 in the mid 2000's.
Intermittently, the vehicle will accelerate on it's own . The dealer has been notified. Rpms will not go down between shifts, vehicle idles up and down at times, dealer had replaced vcm, oxygen sensor, and iac motor, problem still exists.
Throttle locks in between 1100/2400 rpm, only way to unstick it is to turn the engine off.
Driving vehicle at any speed, vehicle will go into open throttle position.
When accelerating up a hill to pass a vehicle at 70 mph. Failed. Tt.
When you take your foot off the gas pedal the vehicle continues to pick up speed. Please describe in more details.
The vehicle experienced inadequate acceleration when pulling onto the highway. The engine revved but the vehicle wouldn't accelerate. The cause is undetermined.
