Chevrolet S10 owners have reported 9 problems related to clutch pedal/linkage (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2002 Chevrolet s-10 LS x-cab pickup manual transmission: loud knocking noise comming from transmission and shifting through gears is rough. When clutch pedal is pressed noise disappears but, when pedal is released a loud bang is heard from transmission and knocking noise returns. The rough shifting occurs mostly going into 3rd gear but also occasionally in all other gears. Brought to dealer to repair for the first time on Jun 2, 2003. Technician said noise is " normal " for this type of vech. Due to a heavier duty transmission. Clutch slave unit was found leaking, causing the rough shifting. . . Dealer replaced slave unit. On Aug. 4, 2003 truck was once again brought in to dealer to inquire about knocking noise from trans and shifting problems (this time transmission wouldn't allow shifter to go into 1st gear and shifting was rough again) after getting second and third opinions from various shops, and all stating that knocking noise does not sound "normal" and a problem with shifting. Once again service tech at the dealer stated that knocking noise is normal and found no problems with shifting but may have fixed a problem, because after leaving service dept, shifting went back to normal but knocking is still there.

A pin retaining the hydraulic hose from the slave to master cylinder worked its way out, allowing the hose to separate from the master cylinder. This resulted in a loss of fluid and loss of clutch movement. The truck was stopped at the time. This could have serious reprocussions in a different situation. I. E. Lurching forward/difficulty stopping.

Throw out bearing noise.
Clutch failed. Yh.
Vehicle loses speedup to 20 mph when traveling up hills. Dealer noted possible cause a defective fan clutch. Problem is consistant.
I have brought my truck into sewell cadilac to have it check "several time" and I keep getting the same ruin around. I told them that I hear a grinding noise like "metal to metal" and I have been concerned that it was the clutch plate. This has been happening for almost two years now, and they tell me that they can not find anything wrong. They said they don't hear any noise, and they aren't going to go into the transmission to check it out. I have had both seat handles replaced because they have just sheared off at the metal, and they are both starting to get difficult to use again. I don't think it will be much longer before they break again.
Clutch pedal moved high enough to cause knee to jam against steering wheel and door making it difficult to operate clutch or steering wheel. Mr.
