- the contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet S10 that was taken to dealer for service on 08/02/03 with a speedometer reading of 3,271 miles at the time of service. The contact explained to dealership that the vehicle continuously vibrated. The dealership serviced the vehicle and stated that there wasn't anything wrong with the vehicle. I believe a design flaw in the driveshaft has caused it to be replaced 3 times over 125,000 miles.

Driveshaft carrier bearing gone bad on my 2000 S10 xtreme. Need the entire driveshaft replaced. Only 46000 miles on my car. A driveshaft should last longer than that.

Within days of my purchase of the 2000 s-10 pickup the problem appeared. The truck bounces like it's going over a bump everytime the vechicle starts out from a stop, it has an automatic transmission. I have taken this back to the dealer several times, they are telling me that because this truck has a two piece driveshaft and that this is how it is supposed be. I am 52 years old and have been driving Chevrolet since I was 16, I've had trucks with two piece driveshafts before and never had this problem. I contacted general motors and filed a complaint and after five months they sent a regional rep out he said this is how this vechicle was designed to perform, I drove another similiar truck on the lot and it did the same thing. Nothing has been done to correct this problem. I have observed the drive shaft by lying on the ground next to the truck as it starts out, you can see the drive shaft moving in the carrier bearing violently. This is of great concern because if the drive shaft should break towards the front it could cause the back of the truck to pole vault and cause a serious accident, worse at higher speeds. I will not allow anyone else to drive this truck because I feel it's a accident waiting to happen. This is very concerning because general motors will not correct this problem on any trucks let alone admit there is one. I'm hoping you will investigate this problem and work gm to get this fixed before people get killed, if it hasn't happend already. I feel that any design problem or defect with the drivetrain of any vechicle is very serious, even if I trade this truck off this will be a problem for someone else and I'm going on record with you hoping to save a life. Just for your info I have been trained as a auto mechanic and worked in this field for 15 years, and have been very involved in drag racing during this time. I have been trained as a faa licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic and have worked in this field for over 20 years.
Dealer said no recall, but one showes up on your recall list. No safety defect (s) listed in summary.
Driving the truck down the highway and the driveshaft fell off without any warning,. The back of the truck dropped very low to the ground, and the brake cable snapped, causing the truck to loose brake power. The truck had to be towed.
The driveshaft is letting the rear move, cannot put any weight in the truck.

The vehicle's driveshaft fell off while the vehicle was stopped. The vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer told the consumer that the failure was due to poor driving. Please provide any further information.
