Chevrolet S10 owners have reported 7 problems related to fuel delivery (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While making a full stop on occasion , and then trying to accelerate, I have had no power as if it is fuel starvation. Have replaced the fuel filter which is over priced for the second time. Upon inspection of the fuel filter, a black substance seems to be blocking the fuel filter for no apparent reason. It must be coming from the fuel tank or a fuel line. After recently replacing the filter and making a quick stop and backing rapidly, I experience the same power failure. Turning off the truck and restarting seems to help momentarily.

Vehicle engine shuts off or on one occasion will not start I suspect a fuel pump or fuel delivery system intermittent fault.
Email fwd fm federal trade commission fm maurice twitchell(wa) re the defective gas filter in his 2000 s-10 Chevrolet pickup. The consumer stated while driving at 70 mph, with a half a tank of gas, the vehicle suddenly quit running as if it were out of gas. The vehicle started after sitting for a few minutes. The consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer and after it was inspected, the consumer was told the fuel pump and gas filter needed to be replaced. The consumer disagreed and stated the problem was the filter in the gas tank, the filter bends up so the pump sucks air instead of pumping gas. The consumer fixed the gas filter himself and the vehicle did not experience the problem again.
Vehicle refused to start. It would turn over just fine but the engine refused to fire. Spent 2 days trying to fire the engine. Had to get vehicle towed to dealer. Upon arrival at the dealership, the engine fired right up. They couldn't duplicate the problem & after completing diagnostics found no reason for the failure.

While driving or when the vehicle was parked could smell fuel inside of vehicle. Odor sometimes could be so strong that it was burning the eyes. Took vehicle to a dealer, and technician said that problem with fuel pressure hose had rubbed against transmission, and rubbed a hole through the line.
