1 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2002 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 02/23/2007

Broken fuel line below drivers seat. While standing outside of the vehicle, I reached inside and started the ignition, after which I saw an approaching fluid coming toward my feet. While waiting for the engine to warm-up, I loaded the vehicle with some personal items (lunch bag, coffee) and then got inside, closed the door and continued to let the engine warm-up. I asked my passenger if they too could smell gasoline. We both agreed that the smell was extremely strong at which time I opened the door to check the source. I saw that the approaching fluid I had seen on the ground earlier was now being pumped out at a great rate and immediately shut off the ignition and told my passenger to exit the vehicle due to a broken fuel line. There has been no work done on the vehicle prior to this event. Nobody has touched the truck and I am not aware of this being an earlier problem. Needless to say we chose to drive another vehicle. This is an extremely serious and dangerous defect!!! thank god we weren't driving down the road when this happened. I will be looking at this as soon as I get home from work tonight. * update: in order to file this complaint, I needed the VIN number. . . So I called my neighbor and he went to go get it and said that the vehicle is still leaking gasoline. I will probably be leaving work to secure the situation.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1998 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 11/15/2006

Gas odor- upon state inspection failure revealed both gas lines were able to rub together, causing a lot of fuel to leak onto the exhaust causing smoke. Both lines will need to be replaced to avoid the truck exploding or catching fire. Funny how you can only buy the fuel lines from Chevrolet. What is to keep them from rubbing together again after I spend the four hundred dollars to have it fixed? this is a defect. Also, faulty windshield wiper motors or wiring allows the windshield wipers to just completely stop while it is downpouring rain. I could have ended up in the lake! I had to pay to have it replaced. There are several complaints online from owners of the same vehicle regarding both of my complaints. Why is nothing being done to make gm fix these known defects before someone dies?.

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1998 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 05/29/2005

I recently purchased an 1998 chevy s-10 pickup in which had highway miles of @176000 miles. These trips were made from the texarkana to dallas area on I-30. After my purchase of said vehichle being the second owner I had been smelling gasoline and searched high and low for its source of origin for approximately 2 weeks and on my way home from sheveport la. , the smell was overwhelming and was very lucky my truck did not explode into flames that night, I checked again under the hood and eventually underneath the carrige and found no leaks from the tank etc. I started the engine and looked again and noticed smoke from the underneath exhaust, upon further inspection the main gas line which routes over the transmission through a metal strap which holds it inplace had rubbed an area in which created this and what is a very dangerous incident and needs to be looked into, had the exhast ignited, gas was all over the top of the transmission as well all the way down the drive shaft. I replaced with regualar flex gas line from an automotive store. I still have the old line for futher inspection if needed, but others may not be as fortunate as I and would only think the smell is coming from the carburator area and would end up the vehichle catching fire or blowing up. Take this very serious and correct the defective area by installing a rubber spaced metal strap which will seperate the three lines as well exposure of being rubbed by the strap in which holds them. My leak was spraying up into the body underneath and not just spraying directly down.

5 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1996 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 11/03/2003

While driving, the brake line leaked. As a result, the pedal became mushy and was unable to grab. The dealer stated the fuel tank was designed too close together, therefore, dirt settled on the line and caused rusting. The front brake pads and rear brake shoes were installed on the vehicle. When the repairs were being made, the technician(s) noticed the front pads wore out prematurely due to the defect. (ac delco durastop brakes).
