Abs Brake Fail problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado

On many occasion the abs failed suddenly which caused extended stopping distance. It was later determined that the abs sensor was faulty.

2 Abs Brake Fail problem

The abs failed, which caused the brakes to engage when it was not needed.

3 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2002

The contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and abs brakes were failing on dry pavement. Also, there was a bad wheel bearing.

4 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2000

Abs has failed daily no abs light comes on indicating failure.

5 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 10/07/1999

1998 Chevrolet Silverado. The consumer states since the purchase of the vehicle the abs brakes failed. It is the same recall 05v379000 as for the 1999-2002 GMC trucks. The problem has not been fixed. The mechanic suggests new parts need to be put in. The consumer does not feel he should pay for it. When the vehicle is stopped the pedal jerks and vibrates. It feels like they are slipping. The consumer states in the winter the brakes are worthless.
