Three problems related to brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Three brake lines had to be replaced due to rust and corrosion. Vehicle being repaired at dealer. Consumer took the vehicle to the original dealer for inspection. The service manager informed consumer that the brake failure was not uncommon due to the environment in vehicles as young as two years old and that the lines could have failed due to electrolysis but the rest of the damage due to the rust was common. Cheverolet would not take responsibility.

Problems with front braking on 1998 Silverado. Faulty brakes caused the front calipers to stick in the braking position. It was later determined that the front flex brake line was clogged due to the lining separating and lodging itself in the brake line.
