Brake Disc Pads problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado

Seven problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2005

1998 Chevrolet sk pickup truck. When going at low speeds the brakes failed. Took vehicle to local mechanic, and had brake line replaced. Also replaced, the front rotors and the pads. The problem started after the work was done. Called general motors. Took down the information and made a file claim number. Just about every time the vehicle was going below 10 mph the brakes failed .

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2000

While driving about 45 mph driver applied the brakes and brake pads on passenger's side came off. Driver used emergency brake to slow down. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. It has not been repaired. Please provide any further nformation.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2000

Brake pads over worn. Needed replacement. Vechicle shakes badly when brakes are applied at a speed higher than 40. Has had this shaking since new dealer says its normal.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2000

When applying the brakes, there was resistance in the pedal. Also, front brake pads wore out at 17,896 miles. Front brake pads were replaced, and rotors were turned and resurfaced. At 2, 433 miles and four months later, problem was back. Fuel injector, right front wheel bearing and hub assembly were replaced. All replacements performed by and paid for by dealer.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 09/01/1998

Braking system malfunctioned, causing more wear and tear on the brakes. Dealer replaced brake rotors and pads 5 times which caused extended stopping distance and resulted in a crash. Please provide further information.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 05/01/1997

Brake pads failed. Mjs.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem

When applying the brakes the pedal has to go to the floor just to stop. The brakes also make a squeaking noise even when they aren't applied. Dealer says he needs new brake pads.
