Five problems related to car accelerates on its own have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the vehicle was taken to a service dealer who determined the problem was in the throttle plate. Updated 5/4/2006 - when the accelerator was pressed it took a while before the vehicle would accelerate then it would accelerate suddenly.
While driving at 10 mph consumer was pulling into driveway and vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. Consumer was standing on the brakes with both feet but the vehicle did not slow down, and it collided with the side of the house. Consumer sustained ankle and the lower back injuries.
The throttle stuck on my 2000 Chevrolet c1500 Silverado and caused a unwanted acceleration event that resulted in a collision with a pole in a parking lot. The defect existed within the throttle assembly. Technical service bulletin 02-06-04-054a. I told the dealer back in 2001of the problem, and he cleaned the throttle, and told me it would be okay, and to burn better gas ,but I continued to have problems later, and was worse than before. I called the dealership they told me to come in and have it looked at , only for them to tell me after I got there that they didn`t have time to work on it that day,and told me to just keep driving it and be carefull. It was that weekend that the collision occurred.
While driving the vehicle experienced sudden acceleration.
While pressing on the brake expecting to stop, the brake pedal was pushing back at the same time the engine was speeding up, sudden acceleration.
