Seven problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2012

Attempted to stop at 10 mph driving straight antilock brake system activated, had no brakes, put transmission into 1st gear stopped 1 foot from building. Almost went through plate glass window! I just changed both my front antilock sensor's and had no effect on the loss of the brakes, they just pulsed. Owned this vehicle since 2001 and have had two antilock brake computers replaces at a cost of $800. 00 each time.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2006

Ref: NHTSA action #eo2015--------------over the past two weeks the throtle had been sticking on my 2000 chevy Silverado 5. 3 engine. On Feb 5 while aproching a light it stuck at 30 mph. After applying the brakes the vehicle wouldnt stop and vehicle continued forward. Evasive action was taken by driving off into a field and placing the truck in neutral. Feb 6 the vehicle was taken to weed chevy in bristol PA and they replaced the throttle body. Two plugs in the plate and the pcv valve. When I paid my bill I noticed on the bill that there was a service flash for the mechanic, that this was a existing problem.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2004

The consumer would have to depress the acceleration pedal to the floor for vehicle acceleration. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined. Please provide more information.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2003

Fuel throttle body-it seems that the gas pedal is hard to push. When we spoke with the Chevrolet dealer about this problem, all they would say is that they are aware that it might be a problem, but it is not covered under the warranty. But they would be happy to check it for us for a nominal sum of $150. 00 plus any parts. If this was listed on a service advisory, but as yet I have not seen any recall. This is a ongoing problem, today I had to put the truck in park and literally stomp on the gas pedal more than 6 times before it would finally break loose and release. I refer to your technical service bulletins 000604007 # 126 and 000604007b, #191.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2000

This vehicle pauses or hesitates at all speeds when trying to accelerate, causing a mild jerking motion.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Within 24,000 miles, the truck has had two throttle control valves replaced which the dealership replaced with no problem. The valves caused the truck to respond abruptly. Mr initially there was a delay before the throttle pedal responded abruptly. Consumer is concerned this condition could be hazardous on slick roads.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

While pressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle initially hesitated before it took off suddenly. Once the accelerator pedal was released the vehicle to jerked forward. The cause of the failure has not been determine. *nljm.
