3 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2005

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado VIN #1gcek19t91e158201. I am experiencing an abs activation when applying the brakes at slow speeds. There is no abs light that goes on, but I can feel and here the abs activating. This is causing a greater stopping distance that is hard to estimate. This has caused me to come very close to hitting other vehicles, and people. This problem started roughly in November, and continues everytime the truck is used. I cannot give an accurate number of times this has happened, but it would be more than 50 times. Please help me. The dealer tells me there is a recall for these trucks, but when I call chevy, they tell me my truck is not included. This truck was just purchased from a dealer that took it in as a trade. The previous owner lived in michigan with this truck until trading it in here in wisconsin (also in the salt belt). I would like to have this safety problem addressed by gm.

4 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2005

Intermitent abs problem at low speed. Almost drove into a parked car when pulling into a parking space. Stepped on brake , pedal felt soft , abs light did not come on. By putting transmission in neutral I was able to stop before hitting parked vehicle. From what I have heard this is a common problem and transport canada has issued a recall on 1999 thru 2002 gm pickups to fix this safety problem . How many deaths will it take before the us takes action?.

5 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2005

My 2001 Chevrolet Silverado with approx 46,000 miles has the same intermittent slow speed abs activation problem as I have read other accounts of here. Abs will activate at below 5 mph such as pulling into parking space garage etc thankfully I have never hit anything as yet but have had close calls have had to dealer and told that I needed two new sensors minimum maybe whole hub assembly but even if I repair that if the sensors go bad or get rust under them this could happen again with no warning light. There is no abs warning light activated for this failure and this is the saftey problerm !!! there has been a canadian recall for this why not in us ??? have deactivated abs for time being rather than worry if the truck will stop when I want it too.
