1 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2009

On my way home from work at about 11:30 am on Tuesday July 28, 2009, I stopped at a light. The truck came to a complete stop and suddenly I felt the abs kick in. The truck went forward, without my taking my foot off of the brake, into the intersection. It finally came to a stop in the middle of the intersection. A car had to serve to avoid hitting me. I called the dealership and they said there are no recalls on my 2002 chevy Silverado truck. There was one on the 1999 Silverado for abs failure.

The contact received NHTSA recall letter 05v379000 concerning abs brake failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for repairs. Upon leaving the dealership experienced the same abs brake problems as those prior to the repairs. The dealership then drove the vehicle and could not duplicate the problem. General motors told him if the dealership could not duplicate the problem then there was nothing they could do. Failure Date: 08/04/2005

Abs sensors have failed on front wheels causing abs to engage each time the vehicle slows to a stop. Stopping is unpredictable. One crash was narrowly avoided when the front brakes did lock up at the last second. Appointment has been scheduled to replace both front hubs at my cost.

Failure Date: 05/27/2005

2002 Chevrolet Silverado z71. The anti lock brakes are not working correctly, when the consumer pushed on the brake pedal the vehicle continues to move, the consumer almost hit another vehicle. The consumer had to put the vehicle into park to stop it. The consumer took the vehicle to a garage, and the mechanic ran a diagnostic test on the vehicle, the test came out negative. 8 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2005

This concerns the brake problem on gm trucks. My 2002 Silverado's braking never was great, when hard braking is applied, the pedal will bottom out and you have to pump pedal to stop. Now the abs system has failed and the pedal has locked up on me at least four times, nearly causing accidents. I had to pull abs fuse just to be able to drive it and be able to stop. The pedal would lock up so hard that I had to stomped it to break it free.

9 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2004

The abs failed, and the vehicle went into a chain link fence. The consumer contacted the manufacturer, and they won't return calls. However, dealership fixed the problem, and told consumer that this problem only occurred at slow speeds. The brake system failed while the consumer was parking. Gm would not cover the damages to the consumers vehicle.

10 Abs Brake Fail problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2004

The contact received a NHTSA recall letter campaign 05v379000 concerning the anti lock brakes. The recall work was performed. However, the dealership informed him that this vehicle experienced a failure with the abs and once the sensors corroded. The contact refused to drive the vehicle because he was afraid that the same abs failure would occur at any time. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no additional assistance. When the consumer attempted to stop the vehicle, the abs activated and subsequently the consumer hit a building. The consumer stated he felt responsible for the accident until he received the recall notice in the mail. Updated 01/11/06.
