Brake Disc Pads problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Nine problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2005

: the contact stated the vehicle was inspected and the mechanic determined the rear brake rotors and rear pads were rusted and grooved. The front brakes and pads were also rusted and grooved, but not as much as the rear. The rear brakes and rotors were replaced on 11-16-05. Updated 05/02/06.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2005

The consumer owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado LS 2500 hd 4 wheel drive regular cab. He was complaining about rear disc brakes. During state inspection on August 5, 2005 the consumer was told that the rear brakes wore out and needed to be replaced. Vehicle had 29,800 miles on it. The rear pads wore out and the rotors were rough and needed to be turned. He then contacted manufacturer customer service, who put him through to sweeney Chevrolet, and the dealer told him that because there was rust on the rear rotors the pads wore out. The consumer asked dealer why the front brakes did not wear out, and dealer did not have an answer. Manufacturer will not help with bill, he was told by sweeney Chevrolet that rotors could be be turned and saved. If rotors had to be replaced then they may have beeb given some assistance. A manufacturer's customer service representative called the consumer back and asked if problem was resolved, and he told her that problem still remained. Unresolved. .

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2005

The contact stated the right rear brakes were grinding. The contact took vehicle to dealer on 6-27-05 and they replaced rear rotors and pads. However, the problem recurred. The pedal jerked/ pulsated when put the brake on. It happened at any speed. This vehicle was not included in recall 05v790000 due to VIN. The contact felt this vehicle should have been included.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2004

Consumer states: the vehicle doesn't stop properly. Checked rotors and found has build-up from corrosion. The brake pads are not contacting the rotors on the rear brakes. Getting progressively worse.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2004

2002. Chevrolet Silverado, less the 38,000 miles on truck. All 4 rotors were disintegrated replaced all 4 all new pads. Still when applying brake, brakes still go right to the floor. Vechile slow to come to a stop. Warrenty ran out by 1,000 miles. After investigated on inter net and found at least 33 complaints of the same thing. At my carstats. Com. 6 Brake Disc Pads problem

Rear emergency brake pads wore out prematurely. The brakes made a loud grinding noise while driving under normal driving conditions.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2004

Consumer complained about a brake problem. Rear brake pads wore out due to dirty slides. Of the four brake pads, 3 where gone.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2002

The consumer states that the brakes on his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado are sluggish and making noise and they feel like they are grabbing. The vehicle has been in the shop 3 times for the brakes. They brakes feel like they do not stop when applying brake pressure. The brake pedal feels spongy. The dealer changed three rotors and brakes pads. The dealer could not get the rotor off on the back and the consumer did not know what was wrong with it. The dealership broke the abs sensor. The consumer took the truck back to the dealership and they replaced the sensor. The owner of the truck has never contacted gm. The vehicle is regularly maintained and serviced. The consumer has expericined brake problems for 3 years.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem

Vehicle was going through a routine maintenance when dealer discovered that the right rear brake pad tore up the rotor.
