Tl-the contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at approximetly 45 mph, the breaks failed to stop the vehicle and the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and the mechanic informed the contact that there was brake line failure. The brake lines were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000. Mm.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact was driving 25 mph and approaching a stop. The brake pedal became extremely stiff and resistant to the contact's attempts to brake. The failure would cause an increase in braking distance and time that it took to stop the vehicle. The abs warning light was also illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal would intermittently vibrate and the contact would have to repeatedly pump the brakes in order to stop the failure. The brake pads and rotors were replaced by an independent repair facility yet the abs warning light remained illuminated. The failure recurred within three days of the repair. The contact stated that he did not feel safe driving the vehicle to an authorized dealer which was several miles from his residence. The manufacturer was contacted three times and would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 104,000.
The contact stated abs brakes activated at low speeds. The brakes pulsated, and the vehicle did not want to stop right away. This started happening a couple of months ago. The dealer said that recall 05v379000 did not apply to the state where the consumer lived. The abs light came on when he applied the brakes.
The consumer was driving about 5 mph, it was very little snow on the ground and the abs light came on. When the consumer hit the brakes, the vehicle skidded through a gate. There was no warning prior to the failure. The consumer took the vehicle in for a regular inspection and the repair shop noticed a very unusual wear pattern for the rear brakes. An insurance claim was filed.
The contact complained about abs brake problems. The vehicle was taken in to the dealership numerous times to have the abs brakes worked on. The abs light came on. They took the vehicle to the dealership the first time to have the light checked. The problem with the light was repaired. The second time the vehicle was taken to the dealership to have the rotors changed. The third time the vehicle was at the dealership the brake pads were changed. Also, the rotors were turned. The fourth time the vehicle was taken in to the dealership it was still having the same problems. Repairs to the vehicle were made at contact's expense. At this time there was NHTSA recall campaign 05v379000. Recall repairs were done. The vehicle currently has the same problems as before. Updated 03/03/06.
