Low speed activation of abs system for no reason. This has caused a couple parked car incidents and a couple of parking lot stop strip incidents. I am told by a very good dealership in dryden NY that this is the same abs system that is recalled on 1999 - 2002 model year Silverado's for the very same issue. Will it take a death for gm to step up to their problem? the entered date only reflects today, there have been other incidents.

1. No warning 2. Abs kick in at low speed and little to no braking is result in forward and reverse, inconsistently occurring 3. Dealer replaced front hub #15233111.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving 5 mph in clear road conditions, the abs activated without warning. The stopping distance increased. Approximately two years ago, the dealer repaired the vehicle under NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock). As of December 12, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle due to the previous recall repair; however, they would check to see if the manufacturer would authorize the repair. The VIN and engine size were unavailable. The failure mileage was 94,000 and current mileage was 95,000.
The anti-lock brakes on my 2003 chevy Silverado with 19,000 miles on it were activating when stopping in normal conditions resulting in the loss of braking power. The first few times the problem happened, it almost resulted in rear ending the vehicle in front of me. The problem was corrected by replacing the front wheel bearings. Gm refused to pay for the repair in spite of well documented problems.
I recently bought a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado z71 extended cab. A few days after I purchased the truck I was in traffic at speeds ranging between 2-10 mph. Almost everytime I pressed the brakes to come to a stop the abs system would kick in and my truck would not stop for a few extra feet almost causing me to rear end the vehicle in front of me. Now I contacted chevy/gm and they said there is a recall for the problem but unfortunately my truck under the VIN # I gave them did not qualify for the recall. They said I'm sorry but you'll have to get it fixed on your own. I was shocked at the response they gave me. I cant afford the close to $1000 repair and I still have to use the truck for work, but I know I won't buy another gm and I guess by the time the recall gets extended to my truck someone will either get hurt or killed do to gm not stepping up and taking no responsibility. Ever since then it happens often enough where im scared.
When placing the vehicle in drive/reverse after start up, the on board diagnostics reports "service brake system". A complete brake inspection has been performed with no indication of any type of issue. This is an intermittent problem. If the diagnostics reports this failure, I can turn the vehicle off and wait a few seconds and re-start the vehicle with no failure report. I took the vehicle to the dealer, melbourne Chevrolet, melbourne, FL, they reported that they were aware that if a vehicle remained idle for any period of time, this type of code would be a result of salt water corrosion. I have 28,000 miles on this vehicle. I have done some research and found that gm has had similar recalls on the Silverado's but not for my year/area.

Pulling into a gas station with my son from a road with a 45 mph speed limit. Slowed down to attempt to park on side of building and about the last 50-75 feet the abs brake system pulsates and brake pedal is slammed down as hard as could and there is absolutely no brakes. Truck hits corner of gate damaging bumper, grille, hood and small dent in door from gate. Taken to dealership to have recall campaign 05068 looked at and damage accessed. Dealership says damage not due to recall campaign. They also state that there are other components that caused crash and I am charged $220. 00 to fix these. Called Chevrolet hot line and of course they do nothing but deny responsibility for products they have problems with. They insult my good faith in them by asking me how tall I am (they probably think that I am a short person and inadvertantly stepped on gas pedal instead of brake).

Hydraulic brake system is ineffective in stopping this vehicle. Brakes are spongy and go to the floor when stopped or if hard pressure is applied. This vehicle would not stop if a child ran in front of it. Three attempts to repair and now we are told it is part of the design and if we used it more this would help. The newer models do not have this system. I wonder why?.

2002 chevy Silverado pick up truck with abs activation at low speed. Causes increased vehicle stopping distance that almost resulted in several crashes. Active recall under # 05v379000. Work was performed at pasadena goodyear due to a week delay inservice appointment at jba Chevrolet in glen burnie maryland. Complaint and request for reimbursement of expenses was files with gm under thier case number of 1-441050950. Dave miller, 1-866-790-5600, advises that even though our VIN number falls under those captured for recall and is within the recall states and the problem is characteristic of hte recall they are denying reimbursement because I never received a recall notice. I advised them that I just bought the truck two weeks prior and would not have received a notice. I also requested that they send me a formal written denial of claim and they will not as they do not have authority to do so. I paid $1300 to have this safety defect repaired and they will not reimburse me for my expenses. All TSB's were followed and failed to correct the poblem. The only resolve was the replacement of both front wheel hubs. Removed , defective parts are available for inspection.

My 2004 Chevrolet Silverado has dangerous brake problems. The brakes give way unexpectedly with the pedal going all the way to the floor. This has happened four times in the past two months- each time the situation was different. The first time I was just parking the car in the garage moving it from the driveway. The second time I was pulling a trailer loaded with a tractor across town and the only thing that stopped me was the electric brakes on the trailer. The third time was moving it across the yard. The last time was in the city driving to a store, I was going down a hill to a red light. The pedal suddenly gives way and goes all the way to the floor with no warning. It then begins working again just as suddenly as it quit. The brake pedal will snap back up and the brakes start to hold again. One time it took 15 minutes before it started working again, the other times it was a matter of 3 to 5 minutes without brakes.
2001 Chevrolet Silverado brakes malfunction when attempting stop at slow speeds. When I apply the brakes at slow speeds the truck stutters like the abs system has gone active and it is very difficult to stop the truck. I have nearly hit other parked cars and my garage door on several occasions. Getting to the point where I'm afraid to drive the truck any longer.
