Al these lights came on out of no where one cold day. Steering assist, abs, break. Also service trailer brake, service stabilitrak. I went online there are so many people with the exact issue. Recall your mistake and fix your problem. Don't screw the customer. I locked up my brakes because the car in front of me and I almost hit them due to my abs not working I fish tailed sideways. It's a matter of time before someone is hurt. It is a big issue many people have spoke about. I also explained to the guy when I scheduale the recall to be fixed and he said that my lights out a different issue the recall is just a program update for something with the brakes. Then I bring it there 45min later they cant update the truck and complete the recall due to the lights on in the truck!!! I'm just upset I explained everything before appointment and still got screwed. Also after looking there is a lot of people with the exact problem as me. . Weird.
My 2017 Silverado is experiencing a very hard brake pedal at slow speeds. I took it into the dealership in October 2019 for the recall pertaining to this issue where they reprogram the braking unit. I had taken it in for that recall just as a preventative measure but now 4 months later I have a very hard brake pedal at slow speeds. I had not had a braking issue until now. When it acts up the pedal is so hard it makes it difficult to stop the truck. It seems to have a hard brake pedal when I'm going slow as in bumper to bumper traffic or parking the vehicle in a parking lot while applying the brakes off and on while doing so.
Trailer brake control module light illuminated in the dash. This may cause the vehicle to be inoperable unexpectedly. This part may be associated with a reprogramming issue that was on another recall. Customer is burdened with repair costs and the module is in high demand as part of a national recall. I have been waiting 6 weeks for the back ordered part. I was told it was delayed as result of a labor strike.
Had recall performed to address hard breaking at slow speeds. Now the truck is harder to stop at slow speeds and gm will not fix the problem. They know it's the vacuum pump and booster and expect me to pay for it.
This complaint deals with the brake recall coming from gm. I did take the truck to have the brake system reprogrammed. I had no issues until after the reprogramming of the system. While in parking lot going less than 5 mph. I pulled into a parking spot placed the truck into reverse to straighten out and during the process of pulling back into the parking space straight. When I went to depress the pedal it was very stiff, it actually seemed as if the brake pedal was pushing back at my foot and the truck did not stop when it was expected to. Luckily, there was no car in the space in front of me allowing for the truck to come to a stop with no accidents or incidents. This at occurred approximately 73,500 miles. I did notify the dealership about this and they are replacing the vacuum brake pump free of charge. However, if circumstances were different this issue may have resulted in an accident.
I picked my truck up from the local dealer after having recall n192268490 repaired. The hard pedal issue is now worse than before. The first time you push the brake pedal it feels ok but the second time it has little to no power assist and don't try for a third. By the third try the pedal is rock solid and you end up backing into your tractor under the shelter. So it's back to the dealer in the morning.
My 2017 chevy 2500hd Silverado shakes hard when the brakes are applied.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while traveling at 70 mph, the brakes ceased to operate without warning. The vehicle remained in there possession for 6 weeks. The contact requested a loaner vehicle which was denied. The manufacturer had been notified of matter and have offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000. Jo.
I was at a red light holding the brake pedal, suddenly it became really hard to press and the braking was limited. Tried pumping the brake pedal a few times but problem persisted. Light turned green finally and cautiously I gave it a little gas and stepped on brake pedal to see if I was going to have to resort to a plan b. Seemed to work once I got moving but definitely not normal.
2017 chev. Silverado 1500 ltz . . 21,240k miles . . I pulled into my church parking lot. And at low speed, I pulled forward stopped and started backing in to the space, I then pulled forward to straighten out and when I went to stop this time the pedal was hard. I was barley rolling and had both feet pushing on the pedal and stopped just in time to not hit a parked car. Then I backed into the space and again a hard pedal with virtually no brakes. Manufacturer recall number n192268490 NHTSA recall number 19v645.

Going from 40 to 5mph breaks feel like is locking for couple of second and back to normal, any speed before stops truck has a little hesitation before breaking.
Fuel injector or fuel pump does not work properly. On two (2) different occasions, months apart, my engine has lost power and the vehicle stalled. Both times at low speeds 10 - 15 mph and low rpms. This has nearly caused me to crash into one vehicle and for another to almost hit me from behind as my car died while making a right hand turn off a busy road. I have had the vehicle towed in twice, but the dealership and gm both say unless they can duplicate the issue they will not fix or replace anything. This vehicle is unsafe and needs to be recalled/reviewed. On top of this, they had to replace the vacuum pump for the brakes and do a software patch update because the backup camera was dangerously bright, especially at night. The camera issue took 2 visits to 2 different dealerships to get resolved. Gm is playing the numbers game of hoping for a fine instead of paying to replace any parts. Especially since they are dealing with a pr battle about making cars outside of the USA. They took the bailout money and screwed americans.
I was in an accident on Thursday, August 22 where I slammed into the back of another vehicle on the road. I had at least 40 feet to stop and I literally stood on teh brakes and truck barely slowed down and before colliding with the other vehicle. I received a letter from gm a few months ago saying the brake assist pump may be faulty and that I could get it replaced even though if it were to fail the truck would still brake within "standard". I didnt think anything of it since it wasn't described as an emergency and I thought I would have ti taken care of the next time I took the truck in for service. My wife had commented on my brakes feeling spongy. After the wreck I was so disturbed by how poorly the truck responded to forcibly depressing the brakes pedal that I started researching and I found where NHTSA was investigating this very issue in the 2014-16 Silverados and I feel strongly that my issue should be included in this investigation. The truck should have stopped and I think a recall should be issued. The brakes do no operate within "standard" when the brake assist pump stops working.
Manufacturer recall numbern192268490 NHTSA recall number19v645 on August 14, 2014, I was driving the 2017 chevy Silverado 4x4 work truck on a rural state route in holmes county, ohio. I had pulled off on the side of the road to pick up my traffic counting equipment. Once I was finished, I pulled into a driveway to turn around. I began to back out of the drive when the brake pedal went rock hard, I lost all pedal and had no brakes. I hit the guardrail that was directly behind me when I couldn't stop. No damage to the guardrail, but plenty of damage to my truck. Obviously, I didn't think this was right so the very next day I took the truck to progressive Chevrolet. After techs had a chance to look over the vehicle, they said the vacuum pump was defective and it was replaced at no cost to me. That's all well and good, but had the vacuum pump not failed, I would not have hit the guardrail.
I was parking my travel trailer on a camp site and readjusting. I pulled ahead down a slight incline and the brake pedal went to the floor in the truck. I pushed the pedal as hard as I could and stopped just before hitting another camper. Put the truck in park and tried the brakes again and the pedal pressure was back. I was then able to finish adjusting and it did not have the brake issue again. It was very scary with kids around etc.
Brakes squeaked and tight and not functioning right.
At low engine rpm the brake force becomes extremely excessive. While backing down a long boat ramp last week this occurred and my wife could not press hard enough to stop the vehicle resulting in a collision to avoid the vehicle going into the water. I contacted Chevrolet and was told there was no recall on this vehicle.
Backing up my truck, at slow speed down a boat ramp, my brake pedal authority went to zero. I had no brakes during backing my boat in gulf of mexico. I had to stand on pedal with all of my weight just to slow it long enough so I could put on parking brake. I called dealer to inquire if this was a problem, and they said I had to wait two weeks to even get it in there to look at it. Unacceptable. Loss of braking can kill occupants in these vehicles. In my case, I would have been under water and possibly drowned.
Loss of brakes when backing up. On multiple occasions, when I applied the brakes during low speed reverse or when backing down an incline, the brakes became very hard to depress and did not stop the vehicle down until I exerted considerable force with both legs. This has happened both when reversing with a trailer and when reversing without a trailer. The most recent incident occurred on may 17, 2019 when backing a boat and trailer down an incline at a boat launch ramp. I was able to stop the vehicle before it entered the water, but it took considerable force on the brake pedal. I alerted the dealership, kolar Chevrolet duluth, of this safety issue twice in 2018 and again most recently on may 23, 2019. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem and stated they would not take further action unless they were able to duplicate the issue.
Loss of braking in stop and go traffic. Vehicle brakes are extremely difficult to press in slow moving stop and go traffic. The abs seems to kick in but the vehicle continues to roll forward. Speed would be around 10 mph. Braking is ok at normal highway speeds but losing ablility to brake at low speed. Near miss on rear ending several vehicles.
I was pulling into wal-mart in white settlement, went to brake to slow down and it felt like the pressure was completely gone causing me to brake harder to stop.
This morning at low speed stop and go traffic and again when low speed parking the black pedal became hard to push and car would not stop properly. Happened both directions while parking. Will take to the dealer this afternoon. Seems to brake fine at higher speeds and slowing from higher speeds. Scary.
Driving slow at drive thru lost power brakes.
Brakes become stiff and inoperable at low speeds after 2-3 pumps.
