Takata recall I got a recall notice and tried to make an appointment at the dealership I bought the vehicle. No appointments were allowed. You arrive at eight am and it will take a least 4 hours to do. The letter stated 40 minutes or less. I cannot take a whole day off of work to do this so I guess my life is in jeopardy.

I was involved in an accident on 1/15/16 in which I was sideswiped by another vehicle. Upon impact, I had no brakes and no steering control. This caused me to rear end another vehicle and hit a tree head on. The airbags never deployed. I was unable to stop the vehicle or control it. I could have been killed or killed someone else. I am very concerned. I have had the truck in the shop on several occasions with electrical issues, yet the dealership could not find anything or it was minor corrections. I have been very concerned with the electronics of this vehicle since I bought the truck in August 2015. The insurance company totaled the truck.
The vehicles brakes are corroding and failed almost causing an accident on 2/09/2016 when the vehicle was in motion (at the intersection of IL route 34 and wolfs crossing).

Abs activates at slow speeds creating an inability to stop properly.
When going at slow speed 10mph or less. The front anti lock breaks kick in and you feel as if it will not stop. This happens all the time. There is a safety bulletin out about this. When I asked chevy what they would do about it I was told nothing. I payed to have it fixed. This was an on going issue not a one time deal.

While driving my 2014 chevy Silverado, I have had 3 instances where the stability control light came on and I suddenly lost lost all steering and brakes. Within a 2-3 seconds the cluster and radio went dead and then the engine stopped. I had no ability to control the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated the logs showed 1 1/2 pages of vehicle communications errors including loss of communications to steering, loss of communications to brakes, etc. After 8 days of analysis, the dealer notified me that this was a known issue with gm and that there is an active pi number for the issue. However, there is no known resolution for the issue. Because there is no known solution, they asked me to come pick up the vehicle and continue driving it and they will contact me when a solution is found. When I asked if they understood that I could lose control of the vehicle and potential kill myself, a family member of another driver they only told me that they had no other suggestions. I escalated to gm customer care and they assured me that because there are no open recalls on my vehicle for this issue, it was completely safe to drive and that I shouldn't worry. A search of the internet revealed many people who have had the exact same experience and who were told to continue driving the vehicle. One even stated that they hit a pedestrian after losing control of the truck. This issue is obviously a huge safety risk as the driver can lose complete control of the vehicle at any speed.

Break lines corroded through to failure. The failure occurred just after exiting a highway. Abs engaged due to icy conditions the next time I depressed the break peddle it went to the floor without the breaks engaging. To the best of my knowledge no warning light was present on the dashboard. The breaks failed while driving and resulted in me running a red light. Luckily it was early in the morning and no accident occurred.
Tl- the contact owns 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving about 35 mph, tried to slow, but the break failed, pedaling to the floor of the vehicle. There was no warning indicator. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,642. Fe.

Pedal goes on down when pressed -- seems like abs isn't working properly.
2011 Chevrolet Silverado. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle brakes issue. Consumer has another vehicle complaint listed in artemis. The consumer stated the rear brake shoes would stick to the drums after getting wet when the parking brake was applied. The brake shoes would release with a thud when the vehicle was put into to drive or reverse. The vehicle would not move or roll, until the accelerator was depressed to move the vehicle. When the vehicle was driven in wet conditions, the braking felt different when compared to dry condition.

I was driving downhill for aproximately 30 minutes towing a boat. My family was in the truck total of five passangers. Suddenly I noticed a smell of something burning. I drove fro approximately five more minutes the I noticed the break pedal was going all the way in, therefore I pulled over on the side of the road. That is when I saw smoke coming out of the left front tire brakes.
Abs stopped brake pedal from going down. By the time I lifted and pumped again vehicle struck young girl. Travel was about six feet. There is a recall in other states but not ky.
Was starting out of driveway on slight slope. Applied brakes and antilock system kicked in. Under 5mph. Rolled in front of oncoming traffic. A truck had to veer to avoid collision with us. Became aware there is a known problem but vehicle hadn't been recalled because it is in kentucky. #05v379000 recall should be extended to ky because of salt for snow and gravel roads.

While traveling on the expressway in my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado with 26,000 miles on the odometer, I attempted a transient lane change while taking evasive action in order to avoid a hazardous situation. When coupled with the brakes I noticed longer than usual engagement. As a result, I was forced onto the shoulder and had to use multiple downshifts in concert with the emergency brake to bring the vehicle to a halt. It sounded like a train stopping on rails. I proceeded to drive home with hazards on,u never exceeding third gear. The following morning I noticed clear oil underneath the front end of the vehicle. I believe this is an extremely dangerous vehicle and a less experienced driver would have been killed or extremely injured. Lastly, I have also been noticing inconsistency with steering resistance. Sometimes the steering is considerably looser than at other times. I have dismissed this disconcerting sensation by assuming it is weather/humidity related.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond without warning. After the brakes were applied continuously, the speed reduced to 10 mph. The vehicle came to a complete stop when the emergency brake was applied. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.
My left front wheel hub assembly failed while driving. Brake system was compromised. I was able to pull over and stop safely, but brakes did not respond as they should. Moreover, there was no indication that the wheel bearing was failing, and I am quite aware of what this sounds like because this will be the fourth time I have replaced the wheel hub assembly on the left side. I have replaced the right hub assembly twice. In all previous times, I heard a slight whirling noise or at worse slight grinding, which would lead me to inspection and replacement before failure. This time it failed without any warning. I believe gm has made a serious design and/or quality error in this truck. This should be investigated because this is a common problem.
When you are traveling real slow or parking the antilock breaks kick in making I difficult to stop. I talked to Chevrolet customer service and they will do nothing for me. Although it is the same design issue that they have recalled on recall #05v37900, the say my truck is not covered.
While driving down the street went to hit my brakes and they went to the floor with no warning no lights on the dash at all took me a city block to stop my emergency brake barely work I'm glad I was not in DC like I was an hour before it would have been a very bad accident.

The abs braking system goes stiff at low speeds. I have to jam on the brakes extremely hard in order for them to stop, the brakes eventually will stop after a 3 to five more feet. The abs braking system is extremely dangerous and serves no purpose. The vehicle works better after disabling the abs brake system. Please recall all chevy Silverados and tahoes due to abs braking system issues.

The brake system went out. The dealer refused to repair under warranty, because it is out of warranty. This is the second 2009 with brake problems. . . . . Updated 04/02/15.
On January 20, 2015, the brakes on my Chevrolet Silverado failed. When I applied the brakes to make a normal turn, on a residential street around the corner from my house, the brake pedal went all the way down to the floor. I was extremely fortunate that no cars were coming the other way & I was able to maneuver the truck out of harms way until I came to a safe stop. I noticed a trail of liquid on the ground & also dripping from under my truck. The liquid coming from the truck was brake fluid. A later check proved the bake fluid well was empty. Obviously the brake fluid that was in the reservoir was now on the ground causing the vehicle inoperable. Well it was operable, it was all good to go. Stopping the vehicle was another matter. Thank goodness I was driving in a residential area when this incident occurred. Imagine if this had happened on a busy interstate (like interstate 95) where some real damage could have occurred or perhaps worse death.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond intermently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,597. Lb.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving approximatley 35 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and there was a screeching noise. The vehicle failed to decelerate and the contact had to depress the brake pedal several times before the vehicle came to a stop. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14e036000 (service brake, air). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Backing-up into my garage in reverse mode, pressed the brake pedal and it went right to the floor.
Driving on two way street attempted a right hand turn applied brakes, peddle went to floor, attempted to pump, truck slowed to stop. Noted large amount of fluids on road. Truck was taken to mechanic, found break-line had burst on left front wheel. After inspection noted that all break-lines looked like kfc chicken were all corroded and brittle. Mechanic indicated that this was a extreme safety hazard. Recommended that I contact dealership and report incident. Also, fill our and file a vehicle safety complaint. I was not informed by gm that there maybe a problem that has been on going and after looking into it have found both gm's caviler attitude, and the governments not requiring at the very least a notification never mind a total fix to be required of gm a serious breach of confidence in my government to provide for the safety of its citizens.
