Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, he attempted to make a turn and his brakes failed without warning. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, it became stiff and unresponsive. The contact had to put more pressure on the brake pedal just to get the vehicle to slow down. The contact also stated that the brakes were making a grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump assembly needed to be replaced. 2 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

We could hear the truck making a grinding noise as we slowed for a stop sign. When we looked, the whole brake pad was missing from the drivers side rear brakes. This caused extensive damage to the rotor. We have since replaced the rear brake pads several times but the front brakes have not been replaced a single time.

3 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving 35 mph on normal road conditions, the contact depressed the brake pedal and heard a loud grinding noise and vibration. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle has not been repaired. The contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. The VIN was unknown. 4 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. In July 2008, the contact noticed that the rear rotors were covered with rust causing the brakes to fail. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the rear rotors and brake pads were replaced. In September 2011, the contact heard a loud grinding noise in the vehicle and drove it to a private mechanic to be serviced. The contact was informed that the inside of the rotors were rusted and needed to be replaced. The private mechanic replaced the front brake pads and rotors. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. 5 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/09/2007

Noted grinding noise from the passenger side of the vehicle when the brakes were applied on a Friday evening. Notified the dealership ASAP on Monday. Vehicle was serviced on that Tuesday. They found that the rear brakes were grinding and the pads had dug into a rear rotor. They installed new rear rotors and pads as well as the left rear emergency brake shoe. There was no warning to this failure. I believe this to be another case of excessive rear brake wear and premature failure. Customer cost was $557. 62 with vehicle still under warranty. 6 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 09/15/2006

: the contact stated when the brake was applied, there was a grinding noise. The abs activated prematurely while driving 10 mph. The dealership was aware of the problem. There was a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the service brakes, hydraulic: antilock. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN.

: the contact stated while driving at various speeds and applying brake pressure there was a grinding noise. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the service brakes hydraulic antilock. 8 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/18/2005

While braking 5 mph abs made a grinding noise, then the pedal started to pulsate. This caused extended stopping distance, and consumer rear ended another vehicle. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined.

Dt:consumer has 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. Vehicle does not stop at slow speed, when applying brakes vehicle makes a terrible clanking or grinding noise. Consumer noticed this in February. Consumer said that she heard of recall by gm in March, and checked her vehicle to find no recalls. Consumer contacted gm, and was told that problem was her responsibility.

10 Brake Grinding Noise problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/10/2003

Dt: 2004 chevy silevraldo that has 10,700 miles that is experiencing brake problems. The truck is currently at dealer for repair. The first instance occurred at about 1,000 miles. The issue is at low speeds such as being at an intersection or red light and when brake pressure is applied -it goes all the way to floor. There is an increased stopping distance at low speeds. No sounds or noises when this occurs. This happens under any circumstances such as wet or dry conditions. Occasionaly when turning to the left and applying brake pressure there is a grinding noise but suspects this may be due to the tire. Currently truck is in shop for the second time awaiting inspection of the brakes. The first incident was noted as normal by dealer even though consumer thought this was a safety issue. No repairs were made the first time. Nm.

The consumer experienced problems with the brakes. When the brakes were applied, the brake pedal vibrated and went completely to the floor, there was no pressure in the brake pedal. There was also a grinding noise occurring at the same time. The consumer stated the problem was sporadic. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. In some instances, the consumer was unable to stop the vehicle.

I was slowing down for a red light when I pushed in on the brake it would not work and I was pushing on it with all the force I could apply trying to get it to stop. I heard a strange grinding noise the whole time I was applying the brakes.
