Light ticking noise from engine from about 30,000 miles by 45,000 miles the noise is much more noticeable like lifters tapping. Failure was with one of the cam shaft lobes chipping off a substantial piece of metal ( brake failure as opposed to being wiped ). The repair has not yet been completed but will require new cam shaft, lifters, head bolts, gasket kit.

Ongoing ticking noise in 5. 3l v8 engine while running. Dealer notified. Feel free to profvide any further information.
While driving during a cold or warm start, engine will start making loud clicking noises coming from valves. Consumer has to warm up engine before driving it every day to try to avoid noise. Dealer could not determine where noise was coming from.
Engine valves would make a loud tapping sound intermittently when starting. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer not to be concerned if it did not last more then a minute.
The consumer states that there is a clattering noise during acceleration/pinging, up inclines and under load weight. And found excessive valve clattering on acceleration and decarbonized the valves, but were unable to resolve the problem. (the vehicle was released with the knowledge that the pinging still occured) the consumer is giving Chevrolet the oppurtunity to resolve the problem in a timely manner, and if these problems are not repairable, then he is expecting a refund of the purchase price with interest.

The 2000 Silverado has to be a blunder by general motors. The truck has bad tires, the engine has used oil since day one . The engine has a deep knocking noise in the lower part and a tapping noise in the upper part . The engine has a miss at idle and no matter how much diagnostic equipment you hook up to the truck you can't find the reason, but after checking I have found that all the 99 and 2000 silerado's with the 5. 3 have had a strange miss/vibration. There are so many more problems that I can't explain them all within this comment section. . Note the truck only has 8,592 miles. General motors has got a major problem with these trucks . Gm trucks have really gone down hill . Gm customers need to be able to get ahold of some upper level management to discuss their problems and address their concerns on timely manner. (tiresize: p265/75r16)( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 ).
Engine has a deep knocking noise in the lower part and a tapping noise in the upper part after setting several hours or overnight. Also the same thing happens when hot upon start-up. Dealer stated the engine knocking in their oppinion did not last over a minute and half, therefore the gm tech asst advised no repairs are required, this is a normal condition. Although the dealer stated gm is aware of the problem. How can this be normal and a problem? gm has a major problem with this 4. 8 and 5. 3 engines.
Engine tapping noise when vehicle first started in the morning, dealer and GMC contacted on several occasions, vehicle still tapping, I will make my fourth trip to the dealer soon.

Vibration in vehicle, oil consumption, brakes, popping noise in front-end.
Clattering noise from engine (left side) when accelerating ,steer left -right noise goes up and down, dip in road noise disappears - can't get help from dealer - lots of people complaining gm has no TSB for this. We need help getting gm to listen and fix the problem. . . .
Consumer heard a tapping noise coming from motor area. Consumer took vehicle to dealership, and mechanic replaced engine lifters. But, problem has continued.
After only having this new truck for 2 days the transmission was taken out of it due to a ticking noise in the engine. The mechanic was advised by gm to take out the transmission and replace a flywheel. After 2 weeks of waiting for a part I picked up my truck. The next day the noise was back. I have had 2 gm reps listen to the noise. The secound rep told me that it was "entrained gasses" and that there was nothing they could do about it. I did not purchase this truck making the noise and do not want it anymore after the transmission has been taken out.
Steering wheel shaking bad and light vibration in cab above 62+ m. P. H(took to dealer and have had tires balanced 3 times, dealer said no fix at this time, I should not be told this for paying $ 30,000 for the truck. ( light ticking noise coming from engine idle to 1000 r. P. M 's ) dealer said no worry but what is going to happen when it is out of warranty.
