Ignition Problems of Chevrolet Silverado

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed. The contact was unable to turn the ignition switch to start the vehicle. The contact had to wiggle the key several times to have the ignition started. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 68,875.

Time on radio stopped working also speakers and chimes for turn signal and keys in the ignition stopped working they work every once in awhile I noticed when the keys in the ignition are turned just right sometimes everything will work but most of the time it does not.

At 46,487 miles had to spend $415. 75 to correct engine light coming on. Now door chime comes on at random times when key is not in ignition.

Speedometer gets stuck at a speed and does not come back down until you cycle the ignition enough times to get it to return to 0 mph. It is an ongoing problem, it does not seem to be getting any better.

Have had several occasions that key in ignition will not turn to start vehicle.

While driving at 70 mph vehicle stalled, causing consumer to pull off the road. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, technician replaced the distributor and rotor cap.

Computer that programs the seats,windows, and mirrors failed. If the consumer tries to open the window the seat will move, this happens intermittently. Sometimes while backing up the mirrors will automatically go down toward the ground at 90 degrees. Also, when turning the key in the ignition the radio will come on, even if the radio is turned off. The vehicle was taken tot he dealer 9 times and it was reprogrammed 5 or 6 times by the dealership. The consumer also reprogrammed it a dozen times. Updated 01/04/06.

Vehicle shut down while driving at any speed, in particular when the air conditioner was on. Dealer has replaced three times the cap and rotor.

Moisture dripping from an air conditioner hose corroded the distributor cap to the point that the engine would run very roughly and with no power. Dealer replaced the cap, spark plug wires and covered the a/c hose at 22800 miles but the same symptoms started again at 43880 miles.

Condensation dripping on my distributor, caused the ignition to fail (distributor cap) was fixed by applying plastic hose to ac line that was dripping on the dist. Cap. (fixed by dealer) but: the hose now routes the water to a spark plug!!!.

While driving about 50mph vehicle will sputter,/barely idling, and then stall in middle of an intersection. Vehicle checked by dealer 3 times, who advised consumer that he could not duplicate problem.

Ignition system failure. The consumer experienced several failures of the ignition system in which the vehicle had to be towed on several occasion. The problem was determined to be an air conditioning hose which was routed directly over the distributor. The gm engineering felt that condensation from the hose falling onto the distributor was causing the repeated problems. In order to correct the problem the hose was wrapped in foam, however in March 2004 the vehicle felt as if it was misfiring. The dealer determined the distributor was corroded. The distributor was replaced several more times due to corrosion. The dealer replaced the coil wire.

My truck just started starting bad, it used to turn over easy, now I have to turn the key with more pressure than before. It starts but, with the a/c and radio on the truck wil stall while driving. Nothing has happened leading up to this, just out of the blue.

Twice died while driving no steering or brakes fear for your life.

Srartup, rough run, won't go over 20mph, won't accelerate above that until warm engine.

My vehicle dies while driving down the road, is very hard to start, right and third door had air and water leak, my truck also has a clanking noise underneath frame.

Distributor cap was replaced on four occasions. Moisture from the air conditioner hose caused it to misfire.

Vehicle repeatedly stalled while driving,and would not restart for several minutes.
