36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd (2006) was purchased new, from gengras Chevrolet-585 connecticut blvd. - east hartford, CT. 06108- telephone # 860-528-2575. Brake line ruptured due to corrosion, fortunately, vehicle was being operated at a slow speed (25) mph. Upon inspection of under the vehicle, I was appalled at the condition of brake lines, fittings, brackets and related components. The rust on the underside including the frame was such that it could be flaked off in 1/16" thick chunks. This truck has only 9028 miles, what kind of auto industry do we have !!!!! ? I was made aware of this corrosion problem (that Chevrolet is aware of) by a local auto mechanic that this corrosion problem was in primarily (2004-2005-2006) Silverados. The materials gm is using to cause these problems is a disgusting sample of our manufacturing system. This vehicle was parked outdoors (on a asphalt driveway). The repairs for this situation are in line with the poor quality materials that were used, I was informed that the body of the truck bed had to be removed (lifted-off) to access brake lines and get this, the fuel line is also in the same location, might be suspect to corrosion. The cost of these repairs is off the charts. (who is responsible for these design flaws). As an american, who advocates buying domestic vehicles, I wonder who is watching what is going on. I hope someone of authority reads this and acts on it, before it is to late for all of us. Remember, this vehicle has (9028) miles on it, and experiencing these problems. Yes, that is correct (9028) miles !!!!!!!!!!.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

Every brake gas and cooling line rusted. I have looked at other vehicles of same year and miles different makes. No where as rusted as my 06 Silverado.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

There was a very strong gasoline smell with the vehicle running. While looking for the source, I noticed fuel spraying out under the passenger side of the vehicle. The dealership determined that it was the high pressure fuel line that was leaking. I do not know if this is a deign flaw, a defect in the part or poor workmanship, but it could have had serious consequences if the fuel had ignited, which was possible with the pressure and volume of the leak. It was replaced without charge due to it being a "safety factor". The truck is not driven in extreme conditions. I had not run over anything, and cannot think of any reason forthefuel line to rupture.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 04/04/2013

Had to replace brake lines all the way to master cylinder and fuel lines from extensive corrosion also throughout the frame and mounting brackets for shocks and leaf springs. Abnormal rust for any vehicle that was washed and taken care of accordingly.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/21/2013

I had just driven 15 miles to on the expressway, I stopped at a store for a couple of minutes. When I went back to the truck, I didnt see the fluid under it, but got in and started the truck. At that time I was excellerating slowly to pull out of a parking spot. About that time a pedestrian stepped off the curb in front of me. I hit the break and it went to the floor! I missed the pedestrian and coasted to the end of the parking lot where I tried to apply the emergency break, that also failed! a concrete curb allowed me to stop the vehicle without incident. I had the vehicle towed to 2 garages before I could find one to repair it at a cost of just under $900. 00.

Fuel lines rusted out. Brake lines rusted out earlier. Tailgate, wheel wheels, cab, etc all rusted thro. Wheels hubs so rusted, they had to be cut out with a touch. It's so rusted out, I feel it's almost unsafe. Fuel lines so rusted out, they were dripping gas.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 04/22/2012

I have had a recurring problem with my new 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lt (5. 3 liter engine) going into "reduced engine power mode" which also results in the disabling of stability control and traction control. This is a dangerous condition in that it results in a loss of power while operating the vehicle upon the roadway. An authorized repair facility has replaced the number one and two throttle sensors, the accelerator pedal assembly, the throttle body, the alternator, the computer, and a large ground wire behind the dash. A gm engineer was flown in and now the repair center is replacing the engine wiring harness. The vehicle (which was purchased less than three months ago) has been out of service for approximately 30 days. In researching this matter I have found that chevy has had an ongoing problem with this in various vehicles in its product line since 2003. Although several service bulletins have been produced there does not seem to be a consensus regarding the cause of this problem. All of the parts associated with trouble codes c0242, p2127, and p2138 have been replaced without result. This condition could result in the affected vehicles being rearended, or, because of the loss of stability and traction control, result in a roll over. This needs to be addressed immediately.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 04/19/2012

On April 19, 2012, the Chevrolet dealership advised me that two or three of my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado diesel fuel injectors, part# 97729095, needed to be replaced and recommended all eight fuel injectors should be replaced at a cost of $5,260,18. I asked if this repair was covered by Chevrolet and the dealer representative said my truck did not qualify because the time limit had expired. He said if the vehicles fuel injectors had failed within the first 200,000 miles or within the first seven years they would have replaced the fuel injectors at no cost. On that date, April 19, 2012 my vehicle had 36,273 miles and was 9 years old, I asked why the dealership hadn't notified me of this problem and they said it was not their responsibility to notify me and refused to replace/repair the defective fuel injectors.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/03/2012

Fuel evap system malfunctioning not allowing fuel system to vent thus making it almost impossible to refuel the vehicle. This also results in a check engine light to occur. The dealership found a bulletin on this problem: dtc p0446 (restricted/blocked evap vent path) set, check engine light on (replace evaporative emission (evap) vent valve solenoid assembly and add/relocate filter box using service kit). This seems to be a common and recurring issue and the repair is to not only replace the part, but change the existing design of the system. Why is this not a recall where the manufacturer fixes the problem since it is obviously an engineering problem? I have read many blogs that include almost new vehicles with this same problem.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/15/2011

We have been dealing our chevy truck not starting for up to 3 years now. It was taken to piles chevolet in dry ridge, ky. They said it was the starter, it was replaced, for a small fee of $550. 00 but we were not alloyed to see the old one. The problem continued, and continued. Aaa was called muiltipule times. A retuale of hitting the top of the steering colume, running the gear shift up and down several times, it may start. Another trip was made to another dealership in the area, in March of this year. With a cost of over $800. 00. Just to turn around a few days later the same thing. A call was made to them, well you have to bring it back in, but it want start. Give me a break. Weeks passed. Finnaly at the end of our rope. We returned to that dealership. Just to be told there was nothing they could do. Many appointments, classes and just special things were missed because the truck just wouldn't start. Each time aaa was called they would say "it is not the starter". Tuesday June 23rd a job interveiw was a real problem, the truck wouldn't start. A family member was called which caused them a problem. My wife finally got it started and went straight to piles again for them to check it out, just to be told I'm so sorry we can't do that. One safety problem with this is I started it after 55 minutes of agony the truck was started without putting my foot on the brake. This meaning if a child or anyone could not reach the petals could possibily start the vehical. I has been "pass the buck so much" it's mind boggeling. Our nerves are just passed all this. This sounds like a company problem that we can't get answers for. This just live with it "attitude" is too much!!!.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 04/14/2010

Front dashboard has a crack in it. Crack on plastic dash just appeared overnight for no reason. It is located almost directly in front of the passenger area. Have checked several other vihicles within the same year model,2- GMC sierra pick ups, 1- avalanch, 2 Silverados. Dash makes a ratteling sound and is very distracting. All have the same open crack almost exactly at the same spot on dashboard. I know there is a defect.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/14/2010

Engine is a 6. 5 turbo diesel. I bought this vehicle used so have no previous history whether it happened before I owned it. Vehicle engine started to die while driving, occasionally at first. It would restart immediately sometimes and sometimes it had to sit for a while. This problem started in years previous to 2010 intermittently but became more frequent in 2010- 2011. Didn't matter what speed I was traveling, it would quit on the interstate going 75 mph or in driveway going 5 mph. Shut off without warning and immediately like someone turned the key off. All power steering and power brakes failed but fortunately I was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and stop it when it happened, only because I knew how to steer with out power steering and had the strength to do it. With others this could easily cause serious accidents. Multiple attempts were made over the years with a mechanic to find the problem with no luck. Finally someone suggested replacing the pmd module which I did in 2011 and it solved the problem for 3 more years. It is now happening again. I was told the pmd module needs to be located outside of the engine compartment because it gets too hot and causes this failure. I believe this constitutes a poor design and a defect that needs to be rectified. Since this happened to my vehicle I have talked with several other people just in my area who own the same type of engine and have had the same problem and others in other areas.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/17/2007

The fuel light came on and has never turned off. . Now we can't tell how much fuel the vehicle has, it doesnt show keeps saying low fuel even when its full. The gage that shows how much fuel it has is stuck on the empty side. I feel that this is dangerous because you don't know how much gas it has. Please check on others of the same problems on this vehicle types.
