Chevrolet Silverado owners have reported 16 problems related to speed control linkage (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While moving from a stop the truck sometimes lags in acceleration which may cause the operator to depress the accelerator further than required to enter traffic. This condition also may cause a short acceleration delay when pulling into traffic that can be unexpected by the operator. I have been surprised many times by this operator disconnect accelerating from a stationary position. After driving my new truck 900 miles I investigated the accelerator pedal assembly bracket to find that the entire bracket is not properly fastened structurally to the fire wall by design. I inspected my truck on 12/23/14 and found this problem, the accelerator pedal bracket flex on my truck looks to be ~3/4" to 1" before the electronic linkage engages. The pedal tip-in engagement has to flex the mounting bracket before the electronic acceleration switch engages. I can't believe the gm engineering and design team's would approve of such a flimsy mounting bracket for this important part of basic motor vehicle operation. I feel over time and usage that this bracket may completely fail as currently designed. I could shim and install additional hardware to correct this safety issue, but I feel this design issue should be addressed with gm before someone has a crash or worst.

My 2000 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado throttle sticks shut when first started. Mine has a 6. 0 liter v-8, but I know several people with different engines and model years with the exact same problem. The pedal sticks so hard that it takes a great deal of effort to make it release resulting in large burst of speed and loss of control. The dealers refuse to correct except under warranty which I no longer have. The factory knows there is a problem and dealers acknowledge as well but will not correct without being paid. This is a very dangerous problem. We have had several near misses.

Vehicle will not drive at high speeds even though consumer holds the accelerator pedal to the floor. Dealer notified.

Throttle linkage has been sticking since vehicle was new. Dealer was uncooperative and wanted to blame issue on maintenance of vehicle and charge $100 for changing fuel filter, which is unrelated to failure.
Throttle linkage has shown increasing pedal effort to move accelerator from the idle position. Was advised by dealer that throttle body should be cleaned, however service manual indicates throttle body should not need cleaning except for high mileage engines. A later service bulletin indicates throttle body replacement is warranted (#00-06-04-007b). Although condition began prior to expiration of warranty, dealer will not repair vehicle (mileage >36000). Since new, have also had to have both power window drive motors and regulators replaced (one under warranty and another after warranty expiration).

Throttle linkages sticking intermittently. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. Feel free to provide any further information.
Gas pedal is hard when pressing down on it. All of a sudden gas pedal will release and and vehcile will jump forward. Consumer states that dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information.
Throttle linkage sticks intermittently at first start, dealer cannot find cause. Problem is still ongoing. It takes extra pressure on accelerator pedal from idle position. This causes vehicle to burn rubber and to accelerate at high speeds.
In order to get vehicle to move driver has to press really hard on gas pedal, then car will take off. Dealer said it was caused by carbon build up in throttle body.
While driving accelerator went to the floor, and the vehicle accelerated suddenly, causing a collision.

While parked with the ignition off, vehicle suddenly accelerated in reverse, causing a minor collision which resulted in minor injuries. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.
Accelerator linkage sticks at idle speed. Causes pedal to travel too far once "unstuck" high power take offs from stopped.
The throtle body gets dirty and sticks and then you give it more gas than you intend and hit something like a garage or person. Has been fixed twice and gm knows they have a problem but say it is up to me to keep fixing it so I don't have a accident all the Silverados have the same problem every 25,000 miles. It is an engineering accident waiting to happen.
Fuel throttle linkage sticks when pressing down on accelerator pedal causing the truck to lunge forward when gas pedal releases. Must press hard on gas pedal to get it truck to go forward. This happens most of all of the times I start the truck and quite often as I am driving and let up on the gas to slow down. Most often it sticks when I acelerate again even when driving.
Sticking accelerator problem started less than 20,000 miles. Accelerator linkage needs to be replaced . Accelerator pedal has to be mashed with excessive force to become unstuck which increases unintended speeds. Dealer was notified. Jg.
Accelerator pedal sticks during acceleration from idle. This causes "jack rabbit" acceleration once pedal lets loose. Very dangerous problem in bumper to bumper traffic. Lubricated external throttle linkage without success. Problem seems to be internal where linkage meets engine component.
