3 Visibility problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/27/2011

The driver side mirror will not adjust outward far enough to eliminate a blind spot on that side of the vehicle. 9/22/11 tom bannen Chevrolet in madison TN attempted to solve the problem by replacing the mirror, but that resulted in no improvement. 12/8/11 I complained to the dealer again. Greg mcneil, the service writer, sat in my truck, operated the mirror and confirmed that the mirror would not adjust outward far enough to eliminate a blind spot. He said that it was “definitely not right, and they would check it out to see what repair is needed. But when I picked up the truck, they said it operates like all their other trucks and would make no improvement. 12/10/11 I complained to gm at 866-790-5600. 12/21/11 "district specialist" john (extension 42327) said gm will not do anything to correct the problem and that this is gm's final position on this problem. This defect leaves a blind spot in my view, and that increases the hazard of moving left to change lanes. I am, of course, am not satisfied with this situation. It places me at greater risk than should be necessary when driving my truck. Perhaps other Silverado owners are suffering this same increased risk. Please promptly provide a solution, instruct my dealer on that solution, and notify me.

4 Visibility problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/02/2010

At temps starting around 35 degrees the defroster stops working and the inside windows fog up leaving no visability at all. So far the only way to clear it is to open windows and wait. Not good when its cold. Moisture builds up like a steamy shower on a mirror. I have read lots of complaints about the same issue and if there isnt a recall to fix then there should be lawsuits filed against Chevrolett and this web site for not taking action. Or are we all supost to wait until people start dying in accidents first?.

7 Visibility problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

(1) it was 22 degrees outside and I went to turn on my heater while pulling away from the house. There was heat coming out but it was not blowing and the heaters control adjustment knobs were not clicking into place. No air was blowing from the front panels or to any panels. I couldn't even get the defroster to operate. I checked all the fuses as per the vehicle operators manual and all fuses were fine. On Friday, 04jan08 I called turan foley Chevrolet-Cadillac-Buick dealership where I had bought the truck back in January of 2005. I spoke to the service department supervisor and explained the problem. He advised me that it was my heaters resistor box and that it had melted. He also advised that he had seen at least 7 trucks that week alone for the same problem and that every 2-3 out of every 10 trucks has been having this problem but that no recall has been placed for this part yet. (2) the resistor box and the pigtail connector had both melted. I left my house in texas and returned to mississippi on almost a 700 mile trip w/o any heat in low 20 temperatures. (3) the dealerships service department replaced the malfunctioned parts with: connector part number15862656 for $95. 00 and the resistor part number 89019088 for $50. 62 and then charged me $120. 00 for labor on 1-1/2 hours labor costing me $289. 56. My warranty did not cover it because it expired 2,656 miles after my warranty of 36,000 miles at 39,456. I contacted the Chevrolet recall center and inquired as to if a recall had been issued and they advised not at this time. If you check the internet though and talk to the service departments on this problem, you will see and hear that this is a continuing issue.

8 Visibility problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/17/2007

Roof support and exterior rear-view mirrors combine to create a wide blind spot on both driver and passenger sides. On the date mentioned, I nearly ran over a pedestrian as he was in the driver's side blind spot and as he walked across the street, remained in that area until I was almost on top of him. On many subsequent dates, I have had cars appear from 'no where' due to being in that area when I approach an intersection. I firmly believe this blind spot contributed to the death of a teenage girl driving a similar truck, she was killed at an intersection north of lyndon, kansas.

10 Visibility problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/08/2002

Right window went down and never was able to make it close. Upon taking it to the dealership for repair I was informed that part #15095844 regulator failed. This window was never hardly used. Milage is not a factor but dealer would not replace it. Have contacted gm and they so much as told me to go away they can not help. Talking to the parts dept. They said that they are seeing more of these regulators failing. Dt.

11 Visibility problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

When its cold outside, the windows would freeze and not open. (the track door windows on both doors would freeze) I would take 15-20 minutes to heat up the cab, so the windows would open.
