1 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2009

I have a 2000 Chevrolet silverado half ton z71 four wheel drive pickup truck. Whenever I have to brake suddenly the brakes abs system kicks in if I go over a crack in the pavement. The brakes fail and I have to pump the brakes to stop the truck. My 16 year old son had a car accident with the truck due to this brake failure. He had to stop suddenly on the freeway due to a car accident ahead of him and the brakes failed when the truck went across the expansion joint in the freeway. He rear ended the car in front of him. If he had not slowed down to less than approximately 5 mph it could have been a very serious accident. I think truck's abs system has a design flaw in it and could cause serious results if not looked into. The Chevrolet dealers said there is no problem with the system but it continues to fail in these situations.
