39 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

Vehicle went into limp mode while cruising at 65 mph. Traction control disabled light and check engine light illuminated. Message center displayed "service stabilitrak" "service traction control" and "engine power reduced" messages. Vehicle slowed and transmission downshifted. Vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. With accelerator to the floor the vehicle would not exceed 35 mph in a flat grade. On a steep incline the vehicle would not exceed 15mph with the accelerator pedal to the floor. The issue has occured several times before. Parking the vehicle on the side of the road and several ignition cycles have in the past have resolved the issue. This is a known issue with gm vehicles using a drive by wire throttle body and it has been recalled on other model years.

41 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/11/2017

Engine power reduced, service traction control, service stabilitrak, these warning lights came on and as my truck slowed down no matter how much gas I gave it. Also the check engine light came on. I shut truck off and waited a couple minutes then started truck up . It ran for a few minutes then the same 3 warning lights came on along with the check engine. Light. Is there a recall or a technical service bulletin (TSB) for this issue. I did read that there might be a TSB campaign # 11273b for this issue. Is there any paperwork that can be emailed to me to give to the gm dealer to help me with this issue. The vehicle was in motion the first time it happened. It also happens while parked in driveway and just warming up truck . Thank you, scott chipman scottchip@aol. Com.

43 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/07/2016

My truck should have no issues as I follow the maintenance schedule and take good care of my vehicle but it has happened twice where I was in the middle of the interstate when my vehicle displayed the check engine light, traction off, stabiltrac off, the airvents stopped blowing cool air and released humidity, brakes were not functioning properly (hard to actually break), steering wheel/power steering was malfunctioning making it almost impossible to turn or get out of traffic and it seems the vehicle just decided to suddenly stall while in motion. I was very lucky due to sudden high risk of a vehicle crash and was able to pull over without getting anyone hurt. I turned the vehicle off once I got in park and looked under the hood, everything was fine showing no issues but I went to start the vehicle and it did not crank or try to turn over but all electronics/lights were still working. I I check all fluid levels, all was fine and then I went to try one more time to start the vehicle. To my surprise, it started up just fine and with only the check engine light on and not reading any other messages. All functions were working properly but I was too scared to go anywhere without having an idea what just happened. I went to the closest trusted auto place that would be able to use a scanner to find the trouble codes of my check engine light. The code was for a malfunction with the internal control module (code: p0601). This has happened to me twice in the last week and its very scary to feel at risk for a sudden malfunction to cause a crash. After researching, I noticed that there was a recall bulletin 14515b, that had covered pretty much the same issues and for my vehicle's year/model. My VIN didnt register for any recalls, I don't understand how other vehciles are getting qualified in order to prevent the same issues I'm experiencing.

46 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 06/10/2016

My husband and I were driving about 45 mph down a steep hill, towing a utility trailer, on sr87 in the mountains when the door locks clicked and the engine turned completely off with no warning. The steering wheel locked up and the brakes did not work. My husband put the car in neutral as it accelerated down a cliff and attempted to restart it with no luck. There were no cars immediately around us so we were able to coast to a stop on a steep incline. When we got out to check it, there was oil all over the wheel wells and still no warning lights had come on. We took it to the dealership and they told us the transmission was completely blown on our 6 year old truck. There was zero explanation as to why this would happen as well as to why we had no warning prior to the engine shutting off. We were told to pay better attention to the temp. Even though it did not overheat. Chevy offered no relief or help. We were quoted a price about $2000 less for the initial transmission repair than it would have cost so we took it to a non-dealership shop to repair. This weekend, the check engine light came on out of nowhere indicating loss of power and the stabilitrack warning came on even thought that was previously repaired by a dealership on a TSB about a year prior to the transmission going out. The code it threw this time was p0305 and we were on very limited power driving back home from a road trip. Could not go more than 40 mph uphill. Extremely concerned for our safety since the vehicle can turn off with no warning. Also, the money spent is ridiculous.

47 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/28/2016

First incident with the engine occurred less than 3 months after purchase. At roughly 88k miles I noticed a skip in power/torque especially when going uphill at a constant speed, a light loss of power was noticed very briefly as if one cylinder was missing. Less than 100 miles later the "service stabilitrak" and check engine lights came on. I had the engine code read and cylinder 7 was misfiring. Took it back to the dealership with 3 days left on my powertrain warranty (thank god right?), wrong. For whatever reason an engine malfunction was not covered under a powertrain warranty. But the leaking and failing brake system was covered. Advised by the dealership the lifters had failed which costed me a grand to fix less than 3 months after purchase. Exactly one year and roughly 20k miles later the truck developed a loud tick right after startup. Its now idling very rough, rpm gauge does not stay consistent at idle and at one point dropped almost to 0, truck almost shut off and then jumped back up. After speaking with an independent mechanic about it he proposed it was the cam from his personal experience. It seems the incorrect material was used on some of the cams construction ("softer metal"). This mechanic told me it can put an indention in the cylinder wall and cause the valves to malfunction, in turn causing the lifters to fail. So if this is true why has there not been a recall for this part? everyone makes mistakes including big companies, they'd be a lot more respectable if they corrected their mistakes. So now my options are to spend all the money I saved for college, fix my truck for $4,000 and not go to school this year or trade it in and get a Ford.

48 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 04/11/2016

Truck had been sitting overnight. Woke up to 3rd brake light on. Opened cab door, smelled like smoke and check engine light on, would not turn over. Pop hood and the fuse box and wiring harness had been on fire, were completely melted. Insurance company won't cover because there was not substantial proof of fire, and could not find source. Filed a formal complaint with gm after the dealership told us the wiring harness had been discontinued (on a 7 year old truck). Gm won't do anything because they cannot find the source, and they have yet to acknowledge that they discontinued a part. We have no way of fixing this truck.

49 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/17/2014

I was driving my 2009 Chevrolet silverado one morning on my way to school(luckily I wasn't to far from home when the incident occurred) when the vehicle lost power and the dash showed the check engine light, service stabletrak, and service traction control. When the incident occurred I was in the middle of the road when my vehicle began to decelerate and eventually was not able to go past 45 mph. I pulled over and my vehicle and parked, shut off the engine, and then started it back up only to show the same icons on the dash. After turning around and slowly returning to my house I shut the vehicle off and had to take my wife's car to work. Under other circumstances this could have gone extremely bad and an accident may have occurred. This seems to be a common trend on the internet and forums and needs to be addressed by gm!.

50 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 10/21/2014

I was on my way home from work and traveling between 70-75. The engine began to feel rough. The check engine light was blinking and the traction control light was on. I exited the freeway and called the dealership. They said that it was safe to drive it to them. The engine idled roughly as if it wasn't getting air or gas and would die. As I drove to the dealership it shifted roughly, would only go 55, was shaking violently, and had significant loss of power. The technician said the code was for a miss fire on plug 6. They checked to see if the plug or wires had become loose. They thought it was a valve spring and later decided it was a bent push rod and have disassembled the head to inspect further. They are contacting the engineering dept. At gm to find out what would cause this issue. This is our second truck this year. Our first was a 2014 Silverado 1500 2x4, purchased in may w/ 4000 miles, rolled down a hill on July 26th and crashed into another car while unoccupied, locked and in park. Gm was "unable to find anything wrong", and closed our case. The dealership was very helpful and this is our replacement truck. We took a loss but upgraded to the 4x4 because they had already been covered in the recall of June 27, 2014 "in effected vehicles, an electrical signal short may cause the transfer case to shift to neutral with out the driver's input. " we haven't even made our first payment.

54 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

This has happened twice in the last week. Today I was sitting at a stoplight with my foot on the brake and suddenly without warning my 2010 silverado accelerated and lunged forward about 3 feet. Fortunately there was not a car or person in front of me or I surely would have had an accident then the engine started missing. At the same time my check engine light came on. Service traction control, service stabiltrak, engine power reduced flashed on my dash. I limped home at 10-15 mph max! after about an hour I started it and it ran just fine "both times". The first time this happened I was in a parking lot with the transmission in park. It is now at my local Chevrolet dealer for repair.

55 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/03/2011

Lost power to engine while driving down the interstate highway. Fault on dash showed (reduced engine power). Pulled to shoulder of highway and tried to restart engine to no avail. After sitting for about 5 minutes engine started and check engine light stayed on for a few days. Since that time I have replaced the throttle position sensor and have still been having the same problem for the past 2 years. It will sometimes drive for a few days without any problem, but some days it will occur 10 or more times in a day. I have been on several websites only to see several people are experiencing the same problem even on different models and year vehicle's. This could and may well have caused deathly auto accidents. I have looked for a recall on this problem and could not find one. My question is, "are there any plans to recall effected vehicles for the issue of "reduced engine power?" please check into this ASAP. Thank you for your time and concern.

The contact was driving approximately 45 mph when the vehicle traveled over an uneven road surface and the reduced engine power mode warning message appeared. The check engine warning light was also illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician stated that the fuel pedal actuator had to be replaced. The pedal was replaced but to no avail, and the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

57 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

I own a 2003 Chevrolet silverado and as I am driving down the road the check engine light comes on as says "reduced engine power" and I am only able to travel between 20 to 30 mph and also as I come to a stop light/sign the truck wants to sputter out and die. Everytime I take it to a mechanic shop they tell me its the throttle body and that it needs to be changed but I have already changed it 4 times in the last two years and is not the problem. The problem is constantly happening sometime 3 to 4 times a day.
