The component or system that failed or malfunctioned, fuel pump ( metal flaking in fuel system ) has caused 1 or more cylinders to fail. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety as well as the safety of many other motorists was put at high risk due to the fact that I had a 40ft. Trailer hitched to the truck at the time the engine power was reduced. Thus causing my vehicle to loose power while driving on a major highway. The 2018 chevy silverado was diagnosed by the Chevrolet dealership doing-business-as aschenbach Chevrolet located at 925 east main street, wytheville, va 24382. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. When pressing down on the gas pedal, the truck would not accelerate as normal, then a message appeared on the dash-screen engine loosing power. Major engine failures & reproduced repairs: **January 2022 engine rebuilt/replaced - seguin chevy dealership **April 2022 failed knox sensors - power reduced - rush elgin chevy **November 2022 engine replacement, failed fuel injectors, glo plugs & coolant leak - robbins chevy dealership ** September 2023 failed fuel pump, fuel injectors - aschenbach chevy.

Vehicle is leaking coolant with no apparent cause. No external leaks what so ever. Took it to a mechanic that determined it was a cracked head caused by a bad castech head. There is coolant leaking into my oil because of this.

Well I have been noticing a loss of coolant have added dye to coolant to detect leak nothing was found. This has been going on for months now adding coolant I have performed 2 oil changes since noticing issue. I just changed my oil today and noticed alot of gunk(first time ever) I knew about castech head issue removed my valve covers and found what was almost like caramel orange in color. Checked for casting mark and the heads are indeed castech. This is a known issue what are my course of actions to take?.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 65 mph, the temperature gauge indicated that the vehicle was overheating. The vehicle was immediately taken to the closest dealer where the coolant was flushed and replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the cylinder head was leaking coolant and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.
There is gradual coolant loss over time with no evidence of leak found. On cold start, there's also lifter or piston tapping. We suspect defective castech cylinder head that may be cracked. Gm is aware of this problem and needs to take responsibility for the repairs associated with this defect.

I have had a slow coolant loss recently without and leak visable. Found out its my heads that need to be replaced due to cracks. Read a lot of articles of people with the same problem. Seems to me gm should be responsible for installing horrible heads.
Anti-freeze always low, but no signs of leakage. Due to bad heads on vehicle causing coolant to enter the engine causing slug damage, which destroyed the valves. This is not a wear and tear problem. This is a manufacturer issue that they need to take care of. Gm knew that their manufacturer of the heads knew it was an issue and posted a bulletin, but refuses to fix the issue and resulting in us taking it to a dealership to find out the engine needs to be replaced. Contacted gm, on June 7, 2014 after getting the car back from the dealership, to help with the replacement costs and got no help whatsoever due to age of vehicle with less than 100,000 miles. I even asked if they would pay for the engine if I paid for the labor to have it installed. They refused. Please gm own up to your responsibilities, stand by your product, and fix the issues at hand.
My truck has the bad gm castech cylinder heads that leak coolant into the oil. Gm knows about this problem via gm TSB. Dealer and mfg. Refused to do anything. I feel this is not a mechanical wear issue. It is bad heads from the manufacturer. Gm should be forced to acknowledge this issue and recall the affected vehicle.

On July 21 my 2004 Chevrolet silverado overheated and had a sudden loss of power. The problem was a direct result of a cracked head that leaked all of the engine coolant into the oil pan. This defect is a known defect to gm per a technical service bulliten that was issued in 2007. The bulliten number is #06-06-01-019b and covers engines manufactured from 2001 to 2006. Chevrolet has offered to only replace the cracked heads which does not address the issue of the coolant that entered the oil system which can and will cause severe safety issues later in the vehicles life.
Loss of coolant no visible leak, coolant is seeping into heads due to faulty castech heads used by gm in the manufacturing of these trucks.

I have a 1999 Chevrolet silverado truck with the 5. 3 liter v8. There has been an on going gradual loss of coolant with no apparent leak to be found. Upon further investigation the cause is due to the poor casting of the cylinder heads causing pressurized coolant to leak into the engine. The solution is to replace the castech (mfg) heads with new heads $1,100 each). Chevrolet is apparently aware of this common problem and has issued I believe service document 1986750. If gm is aware of this problem caused by the mis-manufacturing of the part a recall should be issued to all affected vehicles.
