So many vehicles like mine have si. Ilar issue. Lifter issues causing engine damage and other part damage. Causes issues at high-speed with power and stranded motorists on dangerous highways. It is a safety issue because you could be stranded in middle of highway. Lifter issues causing bent pushrods and other engine part damage costing . I had one pushrod covered, but others failed and now thousands in repairs. In expensive vehicles. Also towing charges, hotels, rental cars, etc. . . I dont want to be stranded again as only one bank was all replaced. The entire top half of the engine should be fixed and should be replaced and a service bulletin and recall should be issued to help. Protect consumers.

While driving the active fuel management changed my truck from 4 cylinders to 8 cylinders. This is when I heard a loud bang and a bunch of lights came on the dash and my truck started shaking and shuttering. I was able to regain control of it, but I came close to crashing. I now require a whole new engine at 100000 miles. After talking to multiple shops this KS a known issue. While they dont always catastrophic fail, mine did and almost cost me to crash. This is a serious safety concern.

Chevy silverado 2019 6. 2 liter engine malfunction causing reduced power and transmission shifting issues vehicle speed suddenly reduced while driving 55mph. Truck experienced reduce power mode. Took to have codes ran and it showed 24 separate codes when engine light comes on. While riding down the road, truck will go into reduce power mode, shift automatically into 4x4, and several other notifications will appear. Taking to dealership and was told the electrical wiring harness was shorting out causing this issue. Cost around $700 for repair, happened one month later, took it back and no charge for the 2nd time. It is currently in reduced power now. Dealership stated to replace the wiring harness would cost over $3,000. Dealership stated this was a manufactures defect, but no recall was issued so all cost is on the owner.

We bought 2 of the same exact trucks last year. They each had no miles on them. My business partner was coming home from vacation and stated hearing ticking. We took it to our mechanic and he said it’s a blown motor. Prior to leaving for vacation, an oil change was done on the truck. When the mechanic said the motor is blown he also said it’s down 3 quarts of oil. All scheduled maintenance was done on the truck routinely. We took the truck back to the shop that did the oil change and they had recorded the service, there was no doubt the oil was changed the prior week but it was now black and down three quarts.

I was on a trip to iowa and noticed a loud ticking noise starting in my engine. There was no warning lights on the dash to indicate any problems. I checked the oil and notice it was not registering on the dip stick. I added over a quart of oil and the noise continued. My truck was just at a dealer 2 weeks prior for an oil change and they noted that everything was good and in proper working order. No leaks or no other issues. I set up an appointment at a chevy dealer at the destination which I was traveling to for a check up. About 60 miles from the dealership, my check engine light went on. I immediately stopped and checked all my fluids which were showing normal ranges. I dropped my truck off for inspection and they advised me that my lifters need to be replaced. I authorized the repair and after the new ones where installed, they tested my truck and noticed that there was still a ticking noise coming from the engine and was not holding any oil pressure. They advised me that the motor needed to be replaced at a cost of almost $15,000. I will request all pictures and videos taken by the dealership for further inspection if needed.
2021 Silverado 1500 trail boss lt with 6. 2ltr v8 l87 had sudden catastrophic engine failure at 90,000 miles with excellent and routine maintenance up to. Findings were a broken timing chain, cracked piston and debris in number 8 intake port. Vehicle lost propulsion on the highway posing a safety risk to the driver, passengers and other vehicles on the roadway. Dealership confirmed the findings. There were no warning signs, signals, lamps, beeps, noises or any other indicators that there was an issue with the motor. It unexpectedly and suddenly failed without warning.
Transmission is shifting and shaking and vibration funny whines when driving and hard shifts makes clunking noises when shifting or down shifting. Engine ticks very loud and loses power.
While driving in southern utah my truck gave me a service esc (electronic stability control) warning, service parking brake warning, and check engine light that was for code p0303. I had the vehicle towed to the local Chevrolet dealership and it was diagnosed with lifter failure and camshaft damage because of the lifter failure. Safety was compromised because of the failure of the esc and the loss of power and stability of the engine. I didn't receive warnings prior to the failure. This appears to be a well-known issue with several service bulletins issued for the vehicle.

07/28/2025 10:35am, we had just pulled onto an interstate ramp and the engine powered down and the dashboard began flashing errors, service engine soon light came on. The following errors were displayed: reduce speed to 62 mph, brake system failure, service traction control, service esc, service steering column lock, trailer brakes disabled service required. I had no brakes and had to pump them to get stopped. I was able to pull to the side of the road and shut off the engine. I called dealer and reported issue as this occurred last Tuesday. They advised to bring the vehicle in at 0800 tomorrow. I restarted the vehicle and system reset and I was able to continue. At 12:58pm, I pulled off the interstate ramp onto a county road and the engine powered down again and displayed the same errors. The brakes did not fail this time and I was able to get home.
I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lt and I am having issues with the transmission bucking, hesitating, slipping. I am also having issues with the variable timing system. The variable timing system started acting up last year and when I took it to the dealer they replaced it and I was charged over $400 for it to be repaired. It happened again the beginning of this year and I took it back to the dealer. They told me the oil was dirty and suggested an oil change to fix the issue. I had the oil change done and now I am having the same problem again and have already had the oil changed. I need help since I am paying for a vehicle that is sitting in my driveway not being able to be used. There are 6 codes that have popped up including the variable timing system, cylinder 4 misfire, brake system, and I'm not exactly sure what the other ones are.
I purchased my truck in December 2018 which is a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 crew cab automatic from servco Chevrolet dealership in waipahu, hawaii and making monthly payments for my truck February of 2019 truck runs good and purchased the warranty also had my oil and service changed when time is due which I always kept up. [xxx] and mileage was 40k while leaving work to go home at a stop light was red once turned green I pushed pedal to go and truck just changed noise tone started to run like rough idle, loud tapping noise coming from the engine, shaking and check engine light came on almost causing me to get into an accident. I pulled on the side and checked what was going on and heard the tapping noise from the motor. So I made an appointment with service department with servco Chevrolet dealership where I bought my truck from and spoke with the service tech for my truck to go in for repairs due to issue. It took 2 to 3 weeks for repairs to be complete and service tech informed me that I'm not the only person to have that issue which had to do with the lifters and camshaft with these motors but gm never came out with any recalls due to how much people has the same motors with the same issue. So luckily it was still covered under warranty but said the problem might come back and would just replace the faulty lifters and camshaft. So in August of 2023 my truck has the same issue but wasn't covered under warranty anymore and mileage is 61k and missed the warranty repairs that was for the lifters which I got it scanned cause check engine light and same issue and code was p0016. So I called servco Chevrolet dealership in waipahu again and spoke with the service technician which he told me I just missed the coverage of the warranty repair and only way to get it fixed I would have to bring it back for them to scan and roughly would range from 4k to 8k to get it fixed. So my truck is parked in my garage and hasn't been moved but paying for truck. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act.

Gm is recalling the fuel injector flow rate system but is unwilling to fix damaged parts from the flow rate being off. My engine has misfiring, pitted cam, camshaft lobe wear, valves and needs a new head stemming from the fuel injector flow rate being off. Gm is refusing to support their product. This is a known issue gm is having with these engines.
No updates have been made to fix recall. Status has been pending for a long and it’s preventing me from selling the car due to fear of breaking down.

Component or system failed- lifter in the 4th cylinder - 4 different times. Safety - driving down the interstate, when the lifter goes out the truck slows down in limp mode and causes safety issues for myself and vehicles around me. Problem has been fixed 4 times, now waiting on a brand-new motor that is on backorder for the foreseeable future. No warnings whatsoever.
On Tuesday we pulled out into traffic and the truck shuddered and I heard a pop. The air conditioner went out and then a plethora of warnings along with the service engine light popped up on the dash. The brakes stopped working and the truck went into a low idle almost causing the vehicle behind us to rear end us. Error messages were as follows: brake failure do not go above 62mph, trailer brake failure, steering column needs serviced, service ecs and several others. I was able to get the vehicle back home and called for service at green chevy in peoria, IL I was able to shut the vehicle off and restart it and all error codes were gone. I spoke with the dealer and took it to them. They advised it was a module issue and would reprogram it. It took 2 days and my vehicle is back.
Around July 1st, 2025 I was hearing a ticking sound when taking off from a stop. On July 11th I had an oil change completed on the truck at the local chevy dealership, after the oil change, I mentioned the noise and was told maybe we could schedule some sort of deep cleaning of the internal components of the engine. After leaving the dealership after the oil change, I was still hearing the ticking sound. I then scheduled an appointment on July 22nd for the dealership to look into the ticking sound. I drove the truck to the dealership and it was working fine; other than the ticking sound when the rpm’s were at 2200. At no time was there any warning lights that came on to alert me to a problem. After approximately 30 minutes of waiting in the customer waiting area, the service advisor came and got me and said “we have big problems” and they were going to need the truck longer to look into it. I walked out to the service bay to get some personal items out of the truck. At that time, the mechanic pointed out some white looking fluffy cotton material and said that just came out the end of your exhaust. I had never seen that material prior to this appointment on July 22. The dealership called me July 24th and told me that the engine and exhaust system need to be replaced. They told me that the bottom end connecting rod came apart, and went through the engine and the exhaust system while it was at their facility on July 22. This truck has the 6. 2l v8 (rpo l87) gas engine…. This truck is a 2021 and there is 76,957 miles currently on it (7/24/2025). With a blown engine, and an exhaust system that needs to be replaced.

I have a 2023 chevy Silverado 1500 3. 0l duramax trail boss. Temperature gauge keeps flocculating, engine fan kicks on at 100% and shuts off the ac. Warning on dash engine temperature to high ac shutting off and engine over heat. Took it to the dealership for the truck is still under warranty. They diagnosed it as a faulty coolant control valve. Was told it was safe to drive by the technician but I question that. Dealership ordered the part four weeks ago and it still has not come in. When I inquired about the delay, I found out it is on back order and the availability of the part long wait time. Further research found that this is a systemic issue owners are having with this specific engine since 2020. Yet gm has not done a recall nor is there supply stockage of this part, seeing how this part commonly fails.

About 3 months after the 5 year 100000 mi warranty with only 70000 miles on the duramax diesel engine the exhaust brake part of the engine emissions/exhaust split along the weld. Have seen a number of these reported on the internet as well. Sounds like a manufacturing problem. The vehicle's check engine light came on and it's now at the dealership getting a new exhaust brake housing and bracket replaced. If this was in California or the 12 states listed would be covered for 8yrs/100000 miles.
