1 Engine Failure problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

Complete engine power loss. I was driving my truck to work. I pulled out to the double lane hwy to make my way to work. As I was excelerating up the hill the engine just stopped, full power loss. Prior to the power loss there were no warning lights or alarms. Engine light was not on. Luckily it was early in the morning and the road was not busy. I was able to coast my truck to the side of the road and later had it pulled to the shop. I was told the engine failed. There was an engine error code p0016. I was told the engine was shot and would be better off replacing. I ws also told this was not covered under the current recall. The estimate to replace is $9500. My truck has 93,xxx miles on it. It is currently at vogels Chevrolet in kiel, WI 53042.

2 Engine Failure problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/20/2026

My gm silverado 2022 with 68k miles was recalled at 60k miles for the p0016 failure code involving the internal components of the l87 6. 2l engine. The truck was promptly scheduled for testing and taken into the authorized dealer. The truck passed inspection. A very short time later (approx 8k miles or less) the 6. 2l engine had a critical engine failure while driving down the highway, the truck lost power after alerting a "critically low oil pressure, shut engine down immediately". The vehicle shut itself down and I was left in a very dangerous situation with traffic and other serious hazards. The truck lost oil pressure and shut down which is a major safety concern as this rendered my gm truck without power; engine shutdown occurred while driving. This is after I was assured the vehicle was 100% ok and not defective. It is not only defective, itr had to be towed on a semi truck and left us stranded in an unfamiliar place, again safety is a major concern in this area in addition to the earlier safety issues presented for my truck. It did have the p0016 code, which was found out when towed to the dealer, who also stated that the oil filter was "absolutely full of metal shavings". The dealers shop foreman stated they were going to disassemble the engine and see how bad the damage is as he stated it was very severe. So much so that the dealer ordered a completely new engine but have no idea of arrival or when the vehicle will be done/completed. I reported this to gm corp. Office and stated my valid safety concerns but was quickly denied any resolution even in the face oif evidence by the dealer and my repeated efforts to tell them that I do not trust this specific truck any longer because it is a safety hazard and has already placed me in harms way. Gm is not working to resolve my extreme concern regarding safety of this specific vehicle that had passed the engine recall test yet had a critical engine failure and loss of power while driving.

Complete engine failure and loss of power. While driving, I lost complete power of all systems and truck shut down with no warning lights or alarms at all. Truck is regularly serviced but has always used oil between servicing. Truck had only been driven for 500 miles since last oil service. Upon towing to the repair shop, we were told that the engine was destroyed and we have to have a new engine.

6 Engine Failure problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/21/2020

With only 79,600 miles the engine began misfiring. We took it to 2 independent mechanics and were told the lifters needed to be replaced causing $5600 in repairs. We were followed all the recommended oil changes and maintenance. After investigating it we discovered this engine failure was known to GMC as it has effected several other GMC truck engines manufactured between 2011 and 2014.

7 Engine Failure problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Cylinder #4 has failed. Several mechanics have stated that they see several of these failures with engines equipped or programmed with the active fuel management systems. My engine failure occurred under normal circumstances, 55mph on a farm to market road transitioning from flat roads onto a slight rise when the vehicle started running very noticeably rough. I pulled over and the engine unbalance was very apparent.

8 Engine Failure problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Bad lifter causes engine failure at 100,006 miles. Engine had to be replaced. Transmission has extremely hard shifts from park to reverse, and slips between 5th and 6th. Doesn't throw any codes so dealer says it's fine. But it's obviously ruining itself. Reading all these transmissions complaints I can't believe it's not recalled.
