The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine began to emit a knocking noise and the engine traction warning indicator illuminated. 4 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

The afm (lifters) and camshaft all needed to be replaced due to oil consumption issues. The truck started to make a knocking sound so I stopped and checked the oil and didn't have any showing on dip stick. Changed oil that day and two weeks later the vehicle went into reduce power mode. I took to dealership for repair and they told be it was lifters and camshaft. After doing research on internet it seems that from 2007-2013 5. 3 engines are having oil consumption issues due to afm active fuel management system on truck.

6 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet suburban 1500. Upon starting the vehicle there was a knocking noise in the engine. When he noticed that there was no oil in the engine, he added oil. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who confirmed that there were no oil leaks in the engine. The failure continued to recur every 1,000 miles and each time the vehicle was missing approximately 1 or 2 quarts of oil. Each time the failure recurred an oil light illuminated on the dashboard until more oil was added. The vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions and they were unable to diagnose the failure. An authorized dealer has replaced the valve cover gasket but the failure continued to recur. The failure mileage was 2,200. The current mileage was 22,235.
